Emergency Alarm and Response Procedures for NSED 2025
1๐จ๐ฉ ๐ผ๐ก๐๐ง๐ข: ๐๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ก ๐๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐
ยท Duck, Cover, and Hold: Immediately take shelter under sturdy furniture, cover your head and neck, and hold on.
ยท Prepare for Evacuation. Be ready to evacuate once the shaking stops.
2๐ฃ๐ ๐ผ๐ก๐๐ง๐ข: ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ช๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ
ยท Evacuate to designated sites: Proceed calmly and orderly to your assigned evacuation area.
ยทBuddy system: Stay with your designated buddy during evacuation; and
ยท Continue the Duck, Cover, and Hold as needed: If aftershocks occur while evacuating or upon arrival at the evacuation site, immediately resume the โDuck, cover, and Holdโ position.

o Cost/Responsibility Center Heads: Account for all personnel and guests in your area.
o Faculty Members (Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Instructors, or lecturers): Account for all students present in their respective scheduled classes.
ยท Report Missing Persons: Immediately report any missing individuals to the nearest security guard on duty, who will then inform the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the MSU-IIT Incident Command System (MICS).
ยท 3rd Alarm (Aftershocks): If a 3rd alarm signal is given due to aftershocks, all constituents must remain at the designated evacuation sites and shall perform the โDuck, Cover, and Hold.โ

University Safety Officer and Building Safety Officer:
ยท Building Assessment: Conduct a rapid damage assessment of buildings.
ยท Search and Rescue Authorization: Only the University Safety Officer can authorize the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to begin search and rescue operations.
ยท Building Clearance: Provide clearance when it is safe for constituents to return to buildings, offices, or classrooms.
๐ ๐๐ฅ-๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ธ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐:
ยท First Aid Readiness: Shall ensure that adequate first aid providers are available during the NSED 2025.
ยท Ambulance Availability: Shall ensure that the University Ambulance is available and ready to respond during the NSED 2025.
๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป:
ยทDrill Participation: Any constituent or student who does not participate in the quarterly National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025 shall be recorded as a โcasualtyโ for their respective office or college. This will be verified by the University Safety Officer/Building Safety Officer.
ยท Ambulance Standby: The university ambulance will remain on standby at the University Clinic and will only be dispatched upon call from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) if patient transport is required during the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025.
ยท No Vehicle Movements during the conduct of the drill.
