βPreparedness, Coordination, and Service in Actionβ
The MSUβIIT Incident Command System (ICS) was successfully activated during the MSU-IIT ROTC Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) 2026 and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Graduation Ceremony of Mindanao State University β Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), ensuring the safety, coordination, and smooth flow of the entire event through proactive emergency preparedness and incident management operations.
The activation highlighted the strong commitment of the University toward disaster preparedness, public safety, and operational readiness during major institutional activities. The MSUβIIT Center for Resiliency (MCR), led by Director Melgie Alas, MMBM, PGDSDS, played a vital role in supporting and helping make the activation and overall conduct of the event successful through coordination, technical assistance, and deployment support.
Through the guidance of our very own University Chancellor, Prof. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, JD, LLD, and the leadership of NSTP Director Prof. Micheal Art Napoles, Ph.D., the activity further strengthened the Universityβs commitment to resilience, volunteerism, and public service.
The ceremony was graced by Office of Civil Defense Regional Office X (OCD-X) Regional Director Ret. Maj. Gen. Antonio B. Sugarol as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, where he inspired NSTP graduates from the Reserve Officersβ Training Corps (ROTC), Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and Literacy Training Service (LTS) to become catalysts of resilience, volunteerism, and nation-building. He also emphasized the importance of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC), composed of NSTP graduates, in becoming active campus-based and community-based volunteers who can support disaster preparedness, emergency response, and resilience initiatives within their respective communities.
Anchored on the theme, βCommitted to Excellence, Dedicated to Safeguarding Communities,β Director Sugarol emphasized the importance of disaster resilience, preparedness, leadership, volunteerism, and shared responsibility in building safer and more resilient communities.
The successful activation of the MSU-IIT ICS during the event reflects the growing culture of preparedness, coordination, and resilience within the University community.
