|| Today, we join the global call to protect one of the most critical and vulnerable ecosystems in our natural landscape: our mangroves. 🌱

Declared by UNESCO in 2015, this observance brings global attention to the essential role mangroves play in climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and the well-being of coastal communities.

But even as their value becomes clearer, the threats to their survival, land conversion, pollution, and neglect persist.

In the Philippines, where thousands of coastal families depend on healthy mangrove forests, the call to conserve them is not just a policy, but a promise to protect life, livelihoods, and the future of our shorelines.

Mangroves are defenders of our coasts. We celebrate their strength and might this International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem—

They stand between us and the rising seas.
They breathe life into oceans.
They store more carbon than rainforests.

It’s time we stop taking mangroves for granted.
It’s time we fight for what holds the shore.

Demand protection. Support restoration. 🛡️🌱https://tinyurl.com/DearMrPresident-v2

1ST ENROs Meeting

The City Government of La Carlota, through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) led by ENR Officer Noel Gamilla, hosted the Environment and Natural Resources Offices (ENROs) Meeting on March 3, 2025.

A turnover of logistical support, including knapsacks, sweaters, and raincoats, was conducted for Community-Based Environment Law Enforcers from 25 Local Government Units. This aims to assist them in enforcing environmental laws and policies in their respective areas.

The activity is also part of the World Wildlife Day celebration, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and conservation. ENROs continue to collaborate on programs that promote sustainable resource management in Negros Occidental.

PEM Officer Atty. Julie Ann A. Bedrio and Executive Assistant to the Mayor for the Environment Ian Canlas were also present in the meeting.

Thank you, La Carlota City lead by Mayor Rex Jalando-on for hosting the 1st ENRO Meeting.
