FORMER YUNIT MILITIA MEMBER SURRENDERS IN HINIGARAN, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region recorded another significant accomplishment in its sustained campaign to end local communist armed conflict after a former Yunit Militia member (Non-PSR listed) affiliated with the dismantled Central Negros 2 (CN2-D), Komiteng Rehiyon–Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS), voluntarily surrendered and formally withdrew her support from the Communist Terrorist Group on July 23, 2026, at 2nd NOCPMFC Headquarters, Sitio San Roque, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
The surrender was facilitated after the surrenderee contacted former CTG members who had previously surrendered and informed them of her intention to voluntarily withdraw her support from the Communist Terrorist Group. During the surrender, she formally renounced her support for the CTG, expressed her willingness to cooperate with the government's counter-insurgency campaign, and voluntarily turned over one (1) .357 caliber revolver and two (2) live rounds of .357 caliber am******on.
The surrenderee disclosed that she joined the CTG in 2013 after being influenced by promises that the organization would help her family secure ownership of land. As a Yunit Militia member, she served as the group's "eyes and ears" by monitoring and reporting the movements and activities of government security forces, enabling the CTG to anticipate security operations and evade law enforcement and military actions.
The 2nd NOCPMFC is currently preparing the necessary documents for her referral to E-CLIP and other assistance programs under the NTF-ELCAC, subject to the assessment and evaluation of the Philippine Army and the concerned Local Government Unit. As an initial form of assistance, the surrenderee received cash and one sack of rice. She was immediately released to the custody of her family.
"Every surrender is a victory for peace and a testament to the government's sincere efforts to help our fellow Filipinos rebuild their lives. We encourage those who continue to support the CTG to lay down their arms, return to the fold of the law, and work with us in building a safer, more peaceful, and progressive Negros Island Region," said PBGEN ROMANO V CARDIÑO, Regional Director.
