The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) plays a vital role in protecting our marine environment by preventing, controlling, and responding to marine pollution, including oil spills and other hazardous substances.

Through its Marine Environmental Protection (MEP) operations, the PCG conducts marine pollution monitoring and assessment, prevention, containment, oil spill response, clean-up operations, enforcement activities, and coordination with concerned government agencies, local government units, and other stakeholders.

In the event of an oil spill or marine pollution incident, the PCG promptly assesses the situation, deploys appropriate personnel and equipment, establishes containment measures, coordinates response efforts, and conducts recovery and clean-up operations to minimize environmental damage and protect coastal communities and marine resources.

These efforts highlight the PCGโ€™s vital role as a guardian of the marine environment, helping ensure that our seas remain safe, clean, and sustainable for present and future generations.

Lapaz and ORR Beach Resort in Brgy. Banawon, Hamtic, Antique today, 14 August 2026.

The inspection focused on checking the safety measures, facilities, and emergency equipment in the resorts, particularly those intended to protect guests enjoying their stay and swimming activities.

Through these inspections, the Coast Guard continues to work closely with resort owners and personnel in promoting a safer environment for the public. A simple safety check today can make a big difference in preventing accidents and saving lives.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducts Search and Rescue (SAR) operations primarily to save lives, protect property, and respond to maritime emergencies and disasters.

Under Republic Act No. 9993, or the Philippine Coast Guard Law of 2009, Search and Rescue is one of the PCGโ€™s mandated functions in promoting maritime safety and protecting lives and property at sea.

โš“ Maritime Emergencies โ€“ The PCG responds to distressed vessels, maritime accidents, missing persons, capsized boats, and other incidents requiring immediate assistance.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Natural Disasters โ€“ During typhoons, heavy rains, flooding, and other calamities, PCG personnel may be deployed to assist in the evacuation and rescue of individuals in affected communities.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Humanitarian Service โ€“ The PCG provides assistance to persons in distress regardless of their background, ensuring that every effort is made to protect and save lives.
