The Bicol Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (BCAARRD), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) and Bicol University Tabaco, is conducting a four-day training workshop on policy brief and framework development on October 6–9, 2026, at Ninong’s Hotel, Legazpi City.

The training, titled “Translating Research into Policy: A Training Workshop on Policy Brief and Framework Development for the Bicol Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources,” is attended by representatives from 15 of BCAARRD’s consortium member institutions (CMIs). It aims to strengthen their capacity to translate research findings into policy briefs and frameworks that can support policy development and decision-making in the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sectors.

Bicol University President and BCAARRD Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) Chairperson Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III led the opening of the training and delivered an inspirational message, highlighting the importance of strengthening the link between research and policy development in addressing sectoral concerns in the region.

Serving as resource persons are Dr. Dixon T. Gevaña, professor and university scientist at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), and director of the UPLB Forestry Development Center; and Dr. Adrian L. Albano, faculty member of the Department of Social Forestry and Forest Governance, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, UPLB.

The Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges–Technology Transfer Office (CSPC–TechTRO), through its Intellectual Property Management Division (IPMD), conducted the TUKAD: CSPC Innovation Summit 2026 on September 9–10, 2026.

With the theme “Building a Competitive Innovation Ecosystem for the Bicolanos,” the two-day summit focused on strengthening innovation and intellectual property initiatives at CSPC and promoting an environment that supports technology development, protection, and utilization.

The activity was conducted as part of Project 3: Strengthening the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) in CSPC under the RAISE Program Phase 2.

BCAARRD Director Dr. Lester M. Narvaez delivered a video message during the activity, highlighting the importance of intellectual property management and technology transfer in bringing innovations from research institutions to communities and industries.

The TUKAD Innovation Summit served as CSPC’s contribution to the BCAARRD’s 50th Anniversary, supporting the consortium’s efforts to strengthen intellectual property management, technology transfer, and innovation in the Bicol Region.
