The Local Government Unit of Guimbal headed by Hon. Mayor Jennifer Garin Colada, Vice Mayor Christine "Tingting" Garin, Board Member Jo Ann Basco Germinanda and the municipal officials proudly joined the nation in commemorating the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, honoring the heroism, patriotism, and sacrifices of the Filipino people whose unwavering pursuit of freedom paved the way for the nation we cherish today.

Held at the Guimbal Public Plaza, the celebration gathered local officials, government employees, uniformed personnel, representatives from various sectors, and members of the community in a meaningful observance of this historic occasion. Through the flag-raising ceremony, wreath-laying, and commemorative program, participants paid tribute to the brave men and women who fought for the country's sovereignty and inspired generations of Filipinos to uphold the values of freedom, unity, and national pride.

The Municipality of Guimbal was honored to welcome Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, Regional Director of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Office VI, and a proud son of Guimbal as the Guest Speaker.

The celebration served as a reminder that independence is not merely a historical achievement but a continuing responsibility entrusted to every Filipino. As we reflect on the legacy of our national heroes, may we remain steadfast in our commitment to contribute positively to our communities and work together toward a more progressive, inclusive, and resilient Philippines.

One of the highlights of the Municipality of Guimbal's celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day was the unveiling of a remarkable Philippine Flag crafted from 4,500 pieces of pastillas, symbolizing the unity, creativity, and patriotism of the Guimbalanon people.

This extraordinary masterpiece was meticulously made by Ms. Joan Tacdoro of Barangay Bongol San Vicente.

𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐃 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office VI conducted an onsite validation in connection with the 2026 Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod Provincial Assessment in Barangay Cabubugan.

The activity forms part of the regional recognition program that honors the exemplary service, dedication, and contributions of Barangay Tanods in maintaining peace and order, public safety, and community resilience. The Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod is a long-standing initiative of DILG Region VI and its partner agencies aimed at recognizing best-performing barangay peacekeepers and strengthening volunteerism at the grassroots level.

The team of evaluators, composed of representatives from the DILG, PNP, BFP, BJMP, NAPOLCOM, and CSO, conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Barangay Tanod organization.

The evaluation included demonstrations and practical assessments on arrest techniques, firefighting, evacuation procedures, Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid, and self-defense skills, highlighting the preparedness, competence, and dedication of the tanods in ensuring public safety, peace and order, and effective emergency response within the community.

Present during the activity were SB Members Hon. Reina Paz Gilo-Alipao, Hon. Cristy Love Custodio-Margarico, Hon. Jo Marie Temelo, and Hon. Ma. Yumilca Gepulle, together with MLGOO Josephus Deysolong and the officials of Barangay Cabubugan headed by Punong Barangay Jeffrey Bade.

The activity underscores the vital role of Barangay Tanods as frontline partners in promoting a safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready Barangay Cabubugan.
