I just watched the hearing conducted by the Cayetano bloc, and I am shocked by the allegations presented. While I will not comment on the guilt or innocence of those involved, I believe we must allow the evidence to surface so that the truth can prevail.

I started "Sec Jerick" to be transparent with our kabarangay. We began this journey to motivate and encourage our fellow citizens to engage in barangay activities. Our goal was to teach and show our constituents that our barangay officials are actively fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
For a long time, we were steady at 600 followers.
They were the ones who consistently watched our videos, commented, and reacted. Those are happy memories for me because it was never about the viewership; it was about the memories I preserved by posting them.

Then, at one particular event, people began to notice our initiative to inform and teach. They started following and supporting our page.

Within six months of our page's existence, we hit 10,000 followers, and soon after, we reached 20,000 and now 30,000 a major milestone for us. We have built a community where information, civic debate, and freedom of speech are respected to the fullest capacity.

I am so grateful to you my kabarangay for your support on our humble page. I never expected to be heard by so many people.
I also want to thank those who regularly view my posts even if you aren't followers; I know that I have reached you.
Thank you for your views and your comments. I hope we can continue to grow as a community.

Our next goal, mga kabarangay, is 40,000 followers. Let us reach more people so that our mission to serve, inform, be transparent, and teach continues to thrive.

Now, let’s address the topic currently on every barangay official’s mind: will the 2026 elections actually push through?

It is easy to curry favor and exert influence by tapping into the frustration and anger of the public. This is why many influencers go out of their way to target specific groups or political beliefs to build large, dedicated followings. This strategy is dangerous because it thrives on polarization, transforming healthy civic debate into toxic tribalism that erodes trust in institutions and devalues objective truth. To avoid falling into this trap, we must practice digital discernment which proactively seeks out diverse perspectives, fact-check sensationalist claims before sharing them, and prioritize accounts that emphasize nuanced analysis over inflammatory rhetoric.

The recent vote by Representative Eli San Fernando regarding the impeachment of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte has sparked significant online backlash. Many observers argue that his "Yes" vote which contributed to the movement of the impeachment proceedings to the Senate, is a form of political self-destruction.
This situation invites a deeper reflection on the nature of our political situation. Having reviewed the articles of impeachment, it is clear that there was a degree of due diligence in the investigative process. However, it is essential to remember that these articles remain allegations. In our democratic framework, the principle of being heard before being judged is a fundamental safeguard, until a final conviction or decision is reached, we cannot and should not presume guilt.
The challenge we face today is that in the realm of politics, the "truth" is often filtered through the lens of one’s political affiliation. From my perspective, the Philippines appears heavily divided between two factions, each aligned with the powerful families that hold influence over our national government. Within this environment, there is a tendency for each side to view any politician who breaks ranks or opposes them as committing "political su***de," assuming that their own faction’s stance is inherently right and the opposition’s is inherently wrong.
Our nation is currently faced with many complex problems, and it is a stark reality that divided, we fall; united, we stand. We cannot afford to let this cycle of polarization dictate our future. This is a dangerous precedent, when we stop listening and stop talking, that is when violence begins, as Charlie Kirk wisely warned.
Ultimately, whether one agrees or disagrees with Rep. San Fernando’s vote, we should strive to keep the discourse grounded in the principles of due process and mutual respect. Polarization should not prevent us from holding our leaders accountable through fair, evidence-based systems rather than reactionary rhetoric.
