A research team from DOST-PHIVOLCS, led by Sir Jason Cochon, paid a courtesy visit to the Gonzaga Municipal Tourism Office to coordinate their week-long fieldwork at Mt. Cagua from June 1 to June 6, 2026.

The team is conducting vital hazard monitoring under the project "Volcano-Hydrothermal System Models of Philippine Volcanoes" that aims to analyze volcanic fluids to enhance community safety and support sustainable local adventure tourism.

The Provincial Tourism Office through Sir Mike Israel, alongside the Cagayan Provincial Engineer's Office through Engr. Mark Kevin Martin and personnel, staff of the Gonzaga Municipal Tourism Office, personnel from Gonzaga Engineering Department, Civil Engineering interns from CSU-Carig, and Sir Joseph Obena (contractor), conducted a joint field inspection in Barangay Santa Clara to identify strategic location points for the installation of new Mt. Cagua directional and tourism signages.

This field assessment ensures that the upcoming signages will be optimally positioned to safely guide hikers and boost eco-tourism for the Mt. Cagua trail.

Gonzaga โ€‹community tour guides recently convened at Gonzaga Tourism Office to discuss the revised Mt. Cagua hiking ordinance, which mandates an increased guide fee of โ‚ฑ1,000 and takes effect on May 14, 2026 (15 days upon approval of the said ordinance).

The meeting also highlighted commendable hiker feedback while strictly reiterating the "Garbage In, Garbage Out" protocol and the plan for official formation of the Gonzaga Tour Guide Association.

Members of the Philippine Coast Guard based in Sub-Station Pateng paid a courtesy visit to the Gonzaga Municipal Tourism Office to coordinate regular safety and compliance inspections for local resorts.

This partnership focuses on quarterly monitoring of lifeguard presence and Department of Tourism (DOT) accreditation to ensure the highest safety standards for all establishments.
