GINGOOG CITY — To further strengthen the local cooperative sector, the CDA, in coordination with the Office of the City Cooperative Development Officer (OCCDO), successfully held the Cooperative Information Caravan and Compliance Drive 2026 on March 26 at Pick and Grill Restobar. This whole-day "face-to-face" campaign served as a vital platform for cooperative leaders from Gingoog and neighboring municipalities—including Talisayan, Medina, Magsaysay, and Kinoguitan— to align with national regulatory, legal, and developmental updates, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the economic progress.

The program opened with a warm welcome from Ms. Norma B. Carcido, retired OCCDO Head, followed by an inspirational message from Ms. Lindy P. Valdevilla, REA, MPA, CIPO Head, who represented City Mayor Hon. Erick G. Cañosa. Both leaders emphasized that a well-informed cooperative is the backbone of a resilient local economy, highlighting the city's commitment to the "Excel Gingoog" mantra and the importance of inter-municipal collaboration.

A powerhouse team of experts from CDA led technical sessions on essential Memorandum Circulars, covering Cooperative Projects, Registration, the Credit Surety Fund (CSF), and Quasi-Judicial functions. Key discussions were facilitated by Cris Lu Salem, Nizar R. Pangalian, Atty. Ansarah Julynne M. Yamba, Nadrah K. Sharief, Edwin B. Pelosas, and Maryann D. Gabutan, providing participants with the necessary expertise to navigate complex supervision and examination standards.

The caravan concluded with on-site technical assistance focused on the proper preparation and submission of mandatory reports through the Cooperative Analysis and Information System (CAIS). By addressing common reporting issues and improving accuracy, the CDA and OCCDO continue to ensure that Gingoog’s cooperatives remain compliant, sustainable, and empowered to serve their members effectively.

The spirit of brotherhood is fueling our journey! Under the Koop Kapatid Program, we’re witnessing a beautiful "Big Brother, Small Brother" partnership right here in Gingoog.

We are thrilled to announce that the Gingoog Drivers Operator Transport Service Cooperative (GDOTSCO) has officially turned over a Micro Gasoline Dispenser to their brothers at the Gingoog Tri-Cab Drivers and Operators Cooperative.

This milestone was made possible through the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of Gingoog City, headed by our very own Mayor Erick G. Cañosa. We extend our deepest gratitude to the LGU for facilitating the transfer of this machine dispenser and for their continuous commitment to the welfare of our transport sector.

Salute to GDOTSCO for their generosity, to the LGU for their leadership, and to the Tri-Cab Co-op for their continued service to the people of Gingoog!

In compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 114 from the Office of the President and Executive Order No. 19, s. 2026 of LGU Gingoog, the Office of the City Cooperative Development Officer (OCCDO) will officially adopt a 4-day workweek scheme starting March 9, 2026.

This transition is part of the national government's energy conservation measures, aimed at reducing operational utility consumption while maintaining efficient public service delivery.

On January 29, 2026, our local cooperative leaders gathered at the Penthouse Function Hall, Gingoog City Hall, to showcase their milestones and collective impact. This significant event brought together key pillars of the movement, including Cooperative Banks, Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC), KING MPC, FICCO, and MSU-IIT NMPC.

This initiative is directly in-line with Mayor Erick G. Cañosa’s GOLD Strategic Direction, specifically under Letter L — Livelihood Development and Sustainable Implementation. By strengthening our cooperatives, we are ensuring that economic opportunities are not just created, but are sustained for the long-term benefit of every Gingoognon.

The presentation served as a powerful display of transparency, highlighting how these partners continue to fortify the socio-economic fabric of our community. The Office of the City Cooperative Development Officer remains steadfast in its mission to fuel progress and inspire a shared vision for a more prosperous Gingoog City!

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gingoog City formally turned over a new service vehicle to the Office of the City Cooperative Development Officer (OCCDO) on November 25, reinforcing its support for the cooperative sector and community-based organizations.

The provision of the vehicle was made possible through the initiative and leadership of City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa, who continues to champion programs that empower cooperatives and improve government service delivery.

The LGU remains committed to strengthening cooperative development as a key strategy for local economic growth, livelihood enhancement, and inclusive progress in Gingoog City.

This initiative highlights the administration’s dedication to providing essential logistics support to frontline offices, enabling them to deliver quality services to the public more effectively.

The City Cooperative Development Council held its regular meeting on November 26, 2025, gathering representatives from different cooperatives across Gingoog City. The agenda covered proposed cooperative mergers, updates from primary cooperatives, federations, and unions, and the election of the new Gingoog City Farmers Council officers.

The session took place at the Office of the City Cooperative Development Officer, City Hall Compound, reflecting the city’s continued efforts to strengthen partnerships, promote transparency, and support the cooperative and farmers sector.

The Provincial Cooperative Development Council of Misamis Oriental (PCDC-MO) convened its 6th Regular Meeting on November 13, 2025, at the House of Grill Badiangon Water Park, Gingoog City. The gathering brought together cooperative leaders, council members, and representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) to discuss key issues and opportunities for cooperative advancement in the province.

The session opened with preliminaries, including an invocation, singing of the national anthem, and the Gingoog City Cooperative Pledge. Ms. Norma B. Carcido, Chair of the PCDC-MO/CDCO-Gingoog, led the acknowledgment of participants and delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the day’s discussions centered on strengthening the cooperative movement through collaboration and strategic initiatives.

Assistant Secretary Myrla B. Paradillo, Head of the Public Utilities and Transport Cluster, CDA Central Office, served as one of the main speakers, presenting the “Relevance of Cooperative Merging.” She emphasized how merging can enhance operational capacity, competitiveness, and sustainability among local cooperatives.

The forum also featured Mr. Joselito O. Hallazgo, Director of the Credit Surety Fund, CDA Central Office, who discussed the “Advantage of Having a Cooperative Surety Fund in Each Locality for the Growth of Micro and Small Coops.” His talk highlighted the importance of financial support mechanisms that empower smaller cooperatives to access credit and expand their operations.

An open forum followed, allowing participants to exchange insights and raise concerns related to cooperative growth and integration.

In the afternoon, the PCDC-MO held an internal meeting to discuss upcoming activities, including plans for the council’s Christmas party, a review of operating rules, and other CDA matters aimed at improving cooperative governance and coordination across Misamis Oriental.

The event underscored the province’s continuing commitment to enhancing the cooperative sector’s role in promoting economic inclusivity and community development.
