Two fourth-year students from Gingoog City Colleges, Inc. (GCC) have successfully completed their 600-hour on-the-job training (OJT). Miguel B. Aboc, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student, and Jerry Waminal Jr., a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student, completed their internship at the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), where they gained practical experience in public employment service operations.

Throughout their training, the interns were assigned various administrative responsibilities, including assisting clients, encoding and inputting data into the system, and performing other related office tasks. These responsibilities enabled them to develop essential workplace competencies while contributing to the daily operations of the office.

The internship provided them with valuable hands-on exposure that helped strengthen their knowledge, skills, and readiness for the professional setting. It also deepened their understanding of workplace responsibilities and public service, better preparing them for future career opportunities.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Gingoog City, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) OFW Help Desk, facilitated the safe return of two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the Middle East.

Myleen B. Lamayon, an OFW from Qatar, arrived at Bancasi Airport in Butuan City on May 1, 2026 and Jessabelle B. Leones, an OFW from Jordan, was also safely repatriated and received at the same airport on May 6, 2026.

Both workers were assisted upon arrival as part of the government’s continued support for returning OFWs. They were subsequently endorsed to the appropriate local assistance offices for further support and reintegration services.

The Taiwan Job Fair held on May 1, 2026, at Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School successfully provided employment opportunities to job seekers from various cities and municipalities in Misamis Oriental, as well as neighboring provinces and regions.

A total of 1,024 applicants were interviewed by the 10 participating agencies. A total of 598 applicants are qualified; 466 were from Misamis Oriental, including 291 from Gingoog City, while 132 qualified applicants came from other regions.

This initiative continues to create valuable employment opportunities not only for the people of Misamis Oriental but also for applicants from neighboring regions. Overseas employment offers individuals the opportunity to earn a higher income, gain meaningful experience, and enhance their knowledge and skills in an international working environment.
