Words in Motion: JRLMHS Kicks Off Project SPEAK on English Day
"Today is Wednesday! It's English Day!" echoed throughout the Juan R. Liwag Memorial High School β Senior High School as the school officially launched Project SPEAK (Structured Program for English Acquisition and Knowledge-sharing) with the theme, "Speak Every Day. Learn Every Day.", reinforcing its commitment to developing learners' English communication skills and fostering a culture of confidence, collaboration, and continuous learning. The launching ceremony gathered school administrators, teachers, student leaders, SPEAK Ambassadors, and learners in support of the initiative.
The program commenced with an opening message from Mrs. Jenielyn M. Alarcon, Assistant Principal Designate, followed by the presentation of Project SPEAK by Mr. Roberto DC. Manuel, Master Teacher I and Project Proponent. During the presentation, he discussed the project's objectives, key components, implementation strategies, and expected outcomes.
The initiative centers on three major components: the integration of daily routines and weekly activities that require learners to speak in English, the designation of every Wednesday as English Day, and the establishment of English Speaking Zones in designated areas around the school. The event also featured the launching performance, "Why English Matters," presented by the SPEAK Ambassadors from HUMSS 12 - Rizal.
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the Project SPEAK Pledge, led by Mrs. Olivia G. Javier, Principal IV, where administrators, teachers, student leaders, SPEAK Ambassadors, and learners pledged their commitment to supporting the initiative. This was followed by the Signing of the Commitment Wall, symbolizing the collective dedication of the school community to achieving the vision and objectives of Project SPEAK.
The ceremony continued with the Ceremonial Unveiling of the Project SPEAK Banner, led by selected SPEAK Ambassadors, officially marking the beginning of the initiative.
The successful launch of Project SPEAK marks another step in the school's commitment to promoting effective English communication and developing confident learners.
Prior to its official launching, an orientation and Learning Action Cell (LAC) session for teachers was conducted on July 31, 2026, to equip educators with the knowledge, strategies, and implementation guidelines necessary for the successful rollout of the program. Through the collective efforts of the school administration, faculty, student leaders, SPEAK Ambassadors, and learners, Project SPEAK is expected to foster an environment where English is practiced with confidence every day.
As Project SPEAK officially begins its implementation, the JRLMHSβSenior High School community looks forward to creating more opportunities for learners to communicate, collaborate, and grow through the consistent use of English, living out the project's guiding principle: "Speak Every Day. Learn Every Day."
