Reiterating its commitment to supporting all efforts to promote gender equality, protect vulnerable sectors, and strengthen mechanisms that prevent and respond to violence against women, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8 urges all provincial, city, and municipal field offices across Eastern Visayas to actively participate in the 2025 observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence against Women (VAW).
This follows the issuance of DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2025-115 that ensures the coordinated, gender-responsive, and inclusive observance of the campaign across all levels of government.
The campaign, observed annually from November 25 to December 12, aims to intensify nationwide advocacy against all forms of violence committed against women and girls. This yearโs guide provides LGUs with the campaignโs theme, key messages, recommended activities, and communication protocols to ensure a unified national implementation.
DILG 8 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe encourages all LGUs, VAW Desks, and LCAT-VAWC councils to proactively organize community engagements, IEC initiatives, and capacity-building activities aligned with the campaignโs thematic direction. He emphasized that the observance is not only a compliance requirement but also a vital opportunity for local governments to reaffirm their commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of women and girls.
With the unified push of national and local governments, DILG Region 8 urges all stakeholders and communities to take part in this yearโs 18-Day Campaign and reaffirm their stand: Violence against Women is everyoneโs concernโUNiTEd for a VAW free Philippines!
