In line with the shared commitment to building resilient and interoperable communications, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 2, together with the 5th Signal Battalion, Signal Regiment, and the Philippine National Police (PNP), conducted comprehensive testing of key communication assets.
This joint initiative aims to reinforce operational readiness and ensure seamless coordination among partner agencies within the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC). By validating equipment capabilities, communication systems, and cross-agency protocols, DICT Region 2, the 5th Signal Battalion, and the PNP continue to strengthen critical communications infrastructure to ensure rapid, dependable, and coordinated response efforts during emergencies and disaster operations.

BGEN JOEY T FONTIVEROS PA Visits 5th Signal Battalion

On 14 August 2026, the 5th Signal Battalion, Signal Regiment, Philippine Army warmly welcomed BGEN JOEY T FONTIVEROS PA, Commander, Cyber Command, AFP, during his visit to the Battalion.

The visit commenced with the turnover of the Firewall, and further discuss future collaboration in strengthening the Battalionโ€™s cybersecurity capabilities and enhancing the protection of its critical communications and network infrastructure to support the JTF TALA mission in the Northern Frontier of country.

This was followed by a Talk to Troops, where BGEN FONTIVEROS shared his guidance and insights with the personnel, emphasizing professionalism, discipline, operational readiness, continuous capability development, and being a God centered delivery of services to the nation.

To conclude the visit, BGEN FONTIVEROS personally planted a seedling within the Battalionโ€™s Headquarters, symbolizing growth, responsibility, and commitment to a sustainable future.

The visit underscored the importance of leadership, capability development, and secure communications in addressing the evolving challenges of the digital battlespace.

The 5th Signal Battalion remains steadfast in its commitment to provide secure, reliable, and resilient communications in support of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Armyโ€™s mission and to the AFP.

The 5th Signal Battalion, Signal Regiment, Philippine Army continues to strengthen the bonds of unity, discipline, camaraderie, and sportsmanship through its Sportsfest 2026, bringing together the Black Team, Orange Team, Green Team, and Blue Team in a series of friendly yet meaningful competitions.

The Opening Ceremony graced by our Guest of Honor and Speaker, LTC MAGDALENA H. CUSTODIO GSC (AGS) PA, Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, 5th Infantry (STAR) Division, Philippine Army. In her inspiring message, she emphasized the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and excellence as vital qualities in military service and mission accomplishment.

The Sportsfest features competitions in Basketball, Pickleball, Chess, Mobile Legends, Truck Pushing, and the Obstacle Course Relay, providing opportunities for personnel to build stronger relationships, enhance teamwork, and promote overall physical and mental well-being.

Beyond the games, the Sportsfest serves as a testament to the Battalion's commitment to fostering esprit de corps and reinforcing the unity that enables the 5th Signal Battalion to remain a stronger, more cohesive, and mission-ready organization.

The 5th Signal Battalion, Signal Regiment, Philippine Army officially commenced its Sportsfest 2026 with a colorful and spirited Opening Ceremony, marking the beginning of a celebration of unity, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

The ceremony featured the grand parade of the four competing teamsโ€”Black Team, Orange Team, Green Team, and Blue Teamโ€”each proudly marching with their respective muses. Their vibrant presentations reflected the creativity, enthusiasm, and strong esprit de corps that define the men and women of the Battalion.

As the Sportsfest officially opens, may this event further strengthen teamwork, discipline, and the enduring bond among all personnel, both on and off the playing field.
