Meet the Great Egret! 🕊️

This elegant white bird is a symbol of nature conservation in Hungary and even appears on our 5-forint coin. But you can also spot it in the Philippines, including in the wetlands around Manila Bay!

On World Migratory Bird Day, we celebrate the incredible diversity of birdlife and the importance of protecting their habitats.

🕯️ October 6 – We remember the Martyrs of Arad

Today, we remember the Thirteen Martyrs of Arad, who gave their lives for Hungary’s freedom and independence in 1849.

Their courage and sacrifice remain part of our national memory and continue to remind us of the price generations of Hungarians have paid for freedom.

As we mark the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight this year, their legacy feels especially close: different generations, but the same enduring belief in freedom.

🇭🇺 🇵🇭 👋 Welcome to the Team!

We are delighted to introduce Mr. Bálint and Mr. Ábel, who have recently joined our team at the Embassy of Hungary in Manila as interns through the Hungarian Public Service Scholarship Programme (Magyar Közigazgatási Ösztöndíjprogram – MKÖ). 🇭🇺🇵🇭

Both Bálint and Ábel graduated in Law from Pázmány Péter Catholic University and will be spending the next three months with us, gaining valuable hands-on experience in international relations, diplomacy, and the work of a diplomatic mission.

Although they have only been with us for three weeks, they have already had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities. These have included preparing and supporting the organisation of events, assisting with their implementation, attending meetings, preparing background materials, and contributing to the drafting of weekly and general reports. They were also delighted to represent Hungary at the highly successful Speak Dating 2026 event, where they had the opportunity to introduce participants to the Hungarian language and culture. 🇭🇺🗣️

During their time in Manila, they look forward to continuing to learn more about the Philippines, its culture and traditions, while gaining further experience in international relations and diplomacy. 🌏✨

🇬🇧🇺🇳🌍 The world of diplomacy turns its attention once again to New York.

Heads of state and government, foreign ministers and diplomats from around the globe are gathering for the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly – one of the most important annual events in international diplomacy.

🇭🇺 Hungary is once again present in New York, representing its national interests, engaging with partners and contributing to the international dialogue on the major issues facing the global community. From Manila, we are also following with particular attention the participation of 🇵🇭 the Philippines, 🇵🇼 Palau, 🇫🇲 the Federated States of Micronesia and 🇲🇭 the Marshall Islands. Hungary maintains excellent diplomatic relations with all four countries and attaches great importance to further strengthening its ties with the region.

The High-Level Week, however, is about much more than speeches in the plenary hall. It is also a time for countless bilateral meetings, for strengthening existing partnerships, building new connections and opening new avenues for cooperation. 🤝

From Budapest to Manila, across the Pacific and on to New York, diplomacy connects countries and people. 🌏🇭🇺🇵🇭🇵🇼🇫🇲🇲🇭🇺🇳

We wish all diplomats and colleagues participating in this year’s High-Level Week a successful and productive week ahead!

🇭🇺🇺🇳🌍 A világ diplomáciájának figyelme ezekben a napokban ismét New York felé fordul.

Állam- és kormányfők, külügyminiszterek és diplomaták érkeznek a világ minden tájáról az ENSZ Közgyűlés 81. ülésszakának magas szintű hetére, a nemzetközi diplomácia egyik legfontosabb éves eseményére.

🇭🇺 Magyarország idén is jelen van New Yorkban, hogy képviselje nemzeti érdekeit, egyeztessen partnereivel, és részt vegyen a nemzetközi közösséget foglalkoztató legfontosabb kérdésekről szóló párbeszédben.

Manilából külön figyelemmel követjük 🇵🇭 a Fülöp-szigetek, 🇵🇼 Palau, 🇫🇲 a Mikronéziai Szövetségi Államok és 🇲🇭 a Marshall-szigetek részvételét is. Magyarország mind a négy országgal kiváló diplomáciai kapcsolatokat ápol, és fontosnak tartja a térséghez fűződő kapcsolatainak további erősítését.

A Magas Szintű Hét azonban jóval többről szól, mint a plenáris felszólalásokról. Ezekben a napokban kétoldalú találkozók sora zajlik, meglévő partnerségek erősödnek, új kapcsolatok születnek, és új együttműködési lehetőségek nyílnak. 🤝

Budapesttől Manilán és a Csendes-óceán térségén át New Yorkig a diplomácia országokat és embereket köt össze. 🌏🇭🇺🇵🇭🇵🇼🇫🇲🇲🇭🇺🇳

HISTORIC TIMES – 9 YEARS LATER 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼✨

Exactly nine years ago today, on 18 September 2017 📅, Hungary 🇭🇺 and the Republic of Palau 🇵🇼 established diplomatic relations in New York 🗽.

It was a historic moment in the relations between our two countries. Nine years later, the phrase “historic times” still feels just as fitting. 🌍✨

The relationship between Hungary and Palau also has a special Hungarian connection that goes back much further. 🇭🇺❤️🇵🇼 For more than seven decades, Mindszenty High School in Koror 🎓 has carried the name of Cardinal József Mindszenty. The Catholic secondary school has preserved his name across generations in one of the Pacific’s most distant island nations 🌊🏝️, creating a unique cultural and historical link between Hungary and Palau. In 2024, on the school’s 75th anniversary 🎉, a bronze statue of Cardinal Mindszenty was unveiled there. 🗿

With the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2017 🤝, this longstanding and special connection entered a new chapter, and friendship and cooperation between our two countries have continued to grow. 🌱🌏

Today, we celebrate nine years of diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation between Hungary and Palau. 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼

Történelmi pillanat – 9 évvel később 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼✨

Pontosan kilenc évvel ezelőtt, 2017. szeptember 18-án 📅 Magyarország 🇭🇺 és a Palaui Köztársaság 🇵🇼 New Yorkban 🗽 felvette egymással a diplomáciai kapcsolatokat.

Történelmi pillanat volt ez a két ország kapcsolatában. Kilenc évvel később pedig a „történelmi idők” kifejezés talán ma is éppoly találó. 🌍✨

Magyarország és Palau kapcsolatának ugyanakkor van egy különleges, jóval régebbre visszanyúló magyar szála is. 🇭🇺❤️🇵🇼 Kororban több mint hét évtizede működik a Mindszenty Középiskola (Mindszenty High School) 🎓, amely Mindszenty József bíboros nevét viseli. A katolikus középiskola generációkon át őrizte Mindszenty nevét a Csendes-óceán egyik távoli szigetországában 🌊🏝️, és különleges kulturális és történelmi kapcsot teremtett Magyarország és Palau között. 2024-ben, fennállásának 75. évfordulóján 🎉 az iskolában Mindszenty József bronzszobrát is felavattuk. 🗿

A diplomáciai kapcsolatok hivatalos felvételével 2017-ben 🤝 ez a régi és különleges kapocs új fejezettel gazdagodott, és azóta a két ország közötti barátság és együttműködés tovább erősödött. 🌱🌏

Ma Magyarország és Palau diplomáciai kapcsolatainak, barátságának és együttműködésének 9. évfordulóját ünnepeljük. 🇭🇺🤝🇵🇼
