Esperanza, Agusan del Sur β The Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) oath-taking ceremony was held on August 18, 2025, at the Esperanza Municipal Covered Court, with Datu Mancombate II, Mayor Deo P. Manpatilan, Jr., presiding and administering the oath.
The event was attended by the nine (9) identified Barangay IPMRs from Aguinaldo, Cubo, Dakutan, Guadalupe, Hawilian, Milagros, Bunaguit, Salug, and Sinakungan, together with Tribal Chieftains, Ininay/Inamay, Barangay Officials, and representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU).
Following the oath-taking, the Municipal Tribal Affairs Unit (MTAU) facilitated a short program reaffirming their commitment to preserving and promoting the culture and traditions of the Indigenous Peoples within the municipality. Vice Mayor Michelle Manpatilan graced the occasion and delivered her acceptance and congratulatory message.
Datu Walagon Teddy M. Manpatilan, Jr. highlighted significant issues concerning the strengthening of IPMR roles, while the Municipal IPMR emphasized the importance of commitment, transparency, and accountability as guiding principles in the performance of their duties.
Barangay Captains also shared their concerns and offered guidance to the newly sworn IPMRs. To conclude the ceremony, each IPMR expressed heartfelt messages, marking the day as a momentous step in their formal assumption of duties as Barangay IPMRs.
