Buenavista National High School is located in the Northern part of Negros Occidental with a distance of approximately 112 kilometers away from Bacolod City, and has an area of 15,000 sq. The school was established during the S.Y. 1967-1968 based on the enactment of a Barangay High School Charter. A General Secondary Curriculum was offered in First Year holding classes at the residence of the Teniente del Barrio- Hon. Julian Tacugue and acknowledged him as the founder of Buenavista Barangay High School. Classes in the succeeding years were then held at the Elementary School until School Year 1979-1980. In early 1980’s, a two (2) classroom building was built within the vicinity of the elementary school which was funded by the PTA and the school fund. The third year and fourth year students occupied the said room .The first year and second year students were holding classes in the barangay market located in the area which is currently occupied by the Buenavista National High School Main Campus. Through the Republic Act no.6655 otherwise known as “Free Education Act of 1988”, the school became a newly nationalized high school thus, BUENAVISTA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL became its new institutional name. In 1989, through the initiative and effort of the school administrator, the school has acquired a school site of an area of 15,000 sq. donated by the Municipal Government of Escalante, and by 1990 the school was one of the recipients of a two storey SEDP- Building and JICA equipments amounting to 3.5 million pesos. In the year 1996, Buenavista NHS established its first extension class at Brgy. Bangay as its first teacher. However, in 2002, the said extension class was converted into a separate National High School through a Republic Act proposed by Cong. Julio Ledesma IV thus , BUENAVISTA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL was born. VISION:

Buenavista National High School Kicks Off 2026 Nutrition Month with the Theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"

NURTURING HEALTH AND NATURE: BUENAVISTA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL LAUNCHES NUTRITION MONTH 2026!

Buenavista National High School officially commenced its 2026 Nutrition Month celebration, uniting students, faculty, and staff in a shared commitment to wellness and environmental stewardship.
Bearing this year's official theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the school community highlights the vital connection between a healthy diet and the preservation of our environment. The celebration emphasizes core health pillars for a progressive community (Tamang Nutrisyon, Malusog na Pamayanan, Para sa Mas Maunlad na Kinabukasan):

Tamang Nutrisyon para sa malusog na katawan.

Aktibo Araw-Araw para sa malakas na pangangatawan.

Inumin ang Tamang Tubig araw-araw.

Iwasan ang Sobrang Asin, Asukal at Mantika.

Alagaan ang Kalikasan, para sa malusog na kinabukasan.

To promote health, wellness, and environmental awareness, the school organized engaging activities for students, featuring a community feeding program and an interactive nutrition quiz bee. These events highlighted the importance of proper diet, sustainable living, and active student participation in building a healthier school community.

Together, Buenavista National High School proves that building a sustainable future starts with conscious choices on our plates and in our environment. Sama-samang nutrisyon, sama-samang umunlad!
