𝟬𝟰 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
📍Molugan Covered Court, El Salvador City Misamis Oriental

The Geriatric Screening for Senior Citizen was successfully concluded with the participation of 48 senior citizens. The activity was led by the City Health Office team, headed by Dr. Miravel C. Tangcalagan.

A short program was conducted prior to the screening, featuring a lecture discussion provided by Dr. Teodoro B. Yu, PHO Technical Head and Dr. Gemma A. Simene, DOH - Senior Citizen Program Coordinator on the importance of geriatric screening in promoting healthy aging and the early detection and management of health concerns among older persons. The activity offered a range of health services, including PhilPEN Risk Assessment, Geriatric Screening, Nutrition Counseling, Eye Check-Up, and Medical Consultation for the participating senior citizens.

As part of the activity, ND Karen Jay Langala provided nutrition counseling to participating senior citizens based on their underlying medical conditions. The counseling highlighted the importance of adherence to maintenance medications, regular physical activity, and proper nutrition through the Pinggang Pinoy for the Elderly and 10 Kumainments as key components of healthy aging and disease prevention. Additionally, the event was supported by three Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), who assisted by taking the participants' weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference measurements.

With a total of 48 senior citizens served, the activity reflects the continued commitment in promoting the health, well-being, and quality of life of every Tagnipan-on.

🫀This HYPERTENSION MONTH AWARENESS ACTIVITY aims to provide our selected BHWs with Health Education on Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus.

The half day program started with a Welcome Remarks from our passionate and dedicated City Health Officer Dr. Vel Tangcalagan, followed with a Special Message from our committed and zealous Department of Health Development Management Officer (DOH-DMO IV) Ma’am Rina Osorio, a Rationale from Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Dr. Teodoro Yu and an Inspirational Message from City Councilor Committee Chairman on Health Hon. Amie Bajuyo Continedo.

A very engaging and interactive lecture from DOH Doctor to the Barrio (DTTB) Dr. Nur-Hanifa Pandaca Ai Pandaca was the highlight of the program as she stressed the importance of Pharmacological and Non- Pharmacological interventions and the Myths and Misconceptions of Hypertension and Diabetes.
In closing, our CHO’s driven and motivated Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Program Coordinator Ma’am Diane Lagang Ebajay thanked those who were behind the successful activity who included the Support Staff being in-charge of the logistics and DOH Human Resources for Health (HRH) HRH NHWSS - El Salvador City, Mis Or who assisted in determining the health condition of our BHWs and gave them counseling after a thorough assessment using the Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable Disease Interventions (PhilPEN) tool.

The LGU of Jasaan, Misamis Oriental conducted a benchmarking activity in El Salvador City as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen local nutrition governance and enhance the implementation of community-based nutrition programs.

The delegation, composed of MHO Dr. Elijah Mateo, MNAO Belly Bagaipo, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars, paid a courtesy call to City Mayor Edgar S. Lignes upon their arrival.

One of the highlights of the visit was the tour of the City Nutrition Building, where the delegates were introduced to the city’s key nutrition service facilities, including the OTC Clinic, AMUMA Clinic, and Central Kitchen. During the activity, ND Arlie Joy O. Damiles presented El Salvador City’s nutrition best practices, highlighting the city’s journey in establishing the Nutrition Building, as well as the innovative strategies and programs implemented to improve the nutritional outcome.

Dr. Mateo, MNAO Bagaipo, and BNS Federated President Fhilirose Bajuyo shared their insights, experiences, and learnings gained from the visit, emphasizing the importance of having a separate office for nutrition and multi-sectoral collaboration in advancing nutrition programs at the local level.

⚕️1st Consultative/Coordinative Meeting For Barangay HEPO ⚕️

Successfully conducted the 1st Consultative and Coordinative Meeting among Barangay Health Education Promotion Unit (HEPUs) with the following agenda: Purokalusugan, Updating of Activities for the 1st and 2nd Quarter, and the Proposed Barangay HEPO Ordinance.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our Dr. Miravel C. Tangcalagan represented by our Assistant City Health Officer, Dr. Adrian Jed Garrett J. Lucero, together with our guest speaker from Department of Health-HRH, Rosiabell Therese Sajonia,RN for sharing valuable discussions about Purokalusugan.

Special thanks also to our Program Manager and HEPO Coordinator, Joshua Solomon, for facilitating the activity, and to all Barangay HEPOs for your active participation and unwavering support in promoting a healthier community.

The successful conduct of the 2-Days Operation Tuli 2026 at barangay Poblacion would not have been possible without the dedication, teamwork, and support of everyone involved. We sincerely thank Doc Ai Pandaca Doc. Miravel C. Tancalagan , Doc Jed Lucero , all Midwives, Nurrses, HRH, DSSA, CHO personnel, also to the Barangay Captain of Barangay Poblacion, headed by: Hon. Edwin Maña and to all Barangay Councilors in barangay Poblacion for their valuable contributions to this meaningful activity.

BLOODLETTING ACTIVITY

In collaboration with the Department of Health Region X and the City Health Office of El Salvador, Tanduay successfully gathered 34,200cc of life-saving blood from 76 modern-day heroes. Each blood donation brings hope and plays a vital role in saving lives.
