Every year, our country suffers from natural calamities such as storms and landslides resulting from climate change and destruction of nature, including the deforestation of mountains.

Our mountains serve as a natural barrier against strong typhoons resulting to reduced wind speeds therefore saving the lives of many people, wildlife and their homes.

Saving our mountains means protecting the home of the thousands of endemic wildlife species and ensuring the welfare of generations to come.

ENTMRPA CONDUCTS HABITAT MONITORING AND INSTALLATION OF SIGNAGE AT BALINAUD BEACH, CADLAO ISLAND

A two-day Habitat Monitoring was conducted by El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area (ENTMRPA) Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) as part of its regular activities under Integrated Protected Area Fund (IPAF) at Balinaud Beach of Cadlao Island, Barangay Buena Suerte, El Nido, Palawan on August 23 to 24, 2021.

ENTMRPA Park Rangers conducted night patrolling along the beach and recorded marine turtle tracks. During the activity, there were no marine turtle observed by the team. However, at about 7:00 in the morning, a probably Crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheelah) showing a broad white subterminal band in the underwing and tail surfaced about a hundred meters into the sky and flew north of the island.

It is ENTMRPA’s initiative to protect the habitat of wildlife species within the protected area, a habitat monitoring like this is regularly done along various islands and beaches of Bacuit Bay. Environmental law enforcers within the municipality are being invited by the office to take part. ENTMRPA-PAMO expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the always active participation of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) El Nido, 23rd Marine Company, Malampaya Foundation, Inc. and Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS).

Lastly, a signage was installed by the team in the morning containing the name of the beach, zoning classification and engraved greenfins initiatives to set as a reminder to visitors of the allowed and prohibited activities in the area.
