Capiz State University - Dumarao Satellite College (CAPSU) will participate in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 as mandated by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through Memorandum No. 15, s. 2026. This initiative aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote proper response during earthquake emergencies in schools and communities.

Through this drill, students, faculty, and staff will practice safety procedures such as “Duck, Cover, and Hold” and proper evacuation, helping build awareness, readiness, and resilience within the CAPSU community.

DRRM DPACT Participates in the 18th University Sportsfest and Conference

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Disaster Preparedness and Action Team (DRRM DPACT) actively participated in the 18th University Sportsfest and Conference to help ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. During the event, the DRRM DPACT worked in close coordination with the Red Cross, providing assistance in emergency response and rescue operations.

Their presence strengthened on-site preparedness, allowing for immediate response to medical and safety concerns throughout the sportsfest. The collaboration between DRRM DPACT and the Red Cross highlighted the importance of teamwork, readiness, and proactive disaster management during large-scale university activities.

Through this participation, DRRM DPACT demonstrated its commitment to promoting safety, preparedness, and effective emergency response within the university community.

The DRRM Disaster Preparedness Action Team conducted an earthquake drill today at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Capiz State University Dumarao Satellite College. Students, faculty, and staff practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique and followed guided evacuation procedures to designated safe zones.

The drill aimed to strengthen disaster awareness and ensure the campus community is prepared to respond effectively during an actual earthquake. Campus officials thanked all participants for their cooperation and emphasized the importance of regular safety drills.

Heavy to Intense rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in (Ibajay, Tangalan, Banga, NewWashington, Batan), (Leon, Alimodian, IloiloCity, Leganes), (SanLorenzo, Jordan and Buenavista) which may persist within 1 to 2 hours and may affect nearby areas.

DRRM Participates in NSTP Training on Safety and CPR
October 18, 2025

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team actively participated in the recent National Service Training Program (NSTP) training facilitated by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The activity aimed to enhance students’ awareness and preparedness in times of emergencies.

During the training, BFP personnel discussed vital safety measures and demonstrated the proper procedures for administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Students were also given the opportunity to practice the techniques under the supervision of trained professionals.

This collaborative activity between the DRRM, BFP, and NSTP serves as a meaningful initiative to equip students with essential life-saving knowledge and skills. It also underscores the importance of community involvement and readiness in responding to various emergency situations.

Through this training, participants gained not only practical experience but also a deeper understanding of the value of safety, discipline, and volunteerism in public service.
