Members of the Regional Statistics Committee of Negros Island Region participated in the Complimentary Training Course on Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools from 02 to 04 June 2026, organized by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI).

The training aims to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in descriptive statistics and data visualization, enhanced through the guided and responsible use of AI-enabled tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Through interactive discussions and hands-on exercises, participants learn how AI can support data-related tasks, including summarizing datasets, generating insights, improving data interpretation, and creating effective visual presentations.

The course emphasizes the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in data analysis, ensuring that AI serves as a tool to enhance productivity while maintaining the quality, accuracy, and credibility of statistical outputs.

This capacity-building initiative reflects the commitment of the RSC NIR to fostering data-driven governance and strengthening the analytical capabilities of its member agencies in support of evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and decision-making in the Negros Island Region.

EARLIER TODAY | RSSO OIC-Regional Director John F. Campomanes joined the DAC Negros Island Region (NIR) 2nd Quarter Meeting at Citadines Bacolod City, presided over by DILG NIR RD Lailyn Ortiz.

Carrying forward key directives from the May 2026 RSC meeting, RD Campomanes called on LGUs, regional line agencies, and the private sector to support the region-wide implementation of Paleng-QR Ph for digital payments and submit weekly price and supply inventories of unbundled pump prices per gasoline station.

The meeting also mapped out proposed committee activities for the upcoming Regional Development Council (RDC) Week in September 2026, featuring a service caravan where member agencies will provide direct public services. For this upcoming event, the PSA offered to deploy its CRS Mobile Outlet and National ID registration services.

Held on 09 to 11 December 2025, the panel discussion underscored the importance of reliable climate data in shaping evidence-based policies, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, improving climate financing, and advancing sustainable and resilient development for the Philippines.

Additionally, the discussion marked the launch of the project, โ€œStrengthening Capacity to Produce and Use Statistics for Effective Climate Action in Asia and the Pacific,โ€ currently undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The initiative reflects the PSAโ€™s continuing commitment to enhancing climate resilience through data-driven action and informed decision-making.
