READ: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here has started its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to repair and clean classrooms in the provinceโ€™s 1st District.

DOLE Provincial Information Officer Raizza Phoebe Rubia said the agency, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), assisted four elementary schools in preparation for the opening of classes in June.

The DOLE deployed 51 TUPAD beneficiaries to public elementary schools in Barangays Domolog, Malaga, and Atotes in the municipality of Bindoy; and to Tayasan Institute.

From shortened periods to regular schedules. ๐Ÿ“š

The 10 new classrooms in the Dynacast Hybrid Building allowed Subangdaku Elementary School to return to regular class schedules after years of operating on a two-shift system. ๐Ÿซ

Subangdaku Elementary School head Dr. Iris Mae Petancio: "Some classes previously lasted only 30 minutes per subject instead of the standard 45 minutes, or one hour for special classes. There are no more shortened periods; classes are now back to regular schedules." โœ…

The change gives teachers more time to discuss lessons and students more time to absorb them. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Foundation University President Victor Vicente โ€œDeanโ€ Sinco said the university now runs about 80% of its campuses on solar energy, generating millions of pesos in annual savings.

He disclosed the information in a briefing-orientation for members of the Negros Oriental Association of Public Information Officers (NOAPIO) held at FU.

The university is expanding its solar panel installations across its campuses as part of its continuing environmental sustainability program.

Look: The Philippine National Police (PNP) is intensifying its campaign against eight (8) focus crimes while strengthening community-based programs to sustain peace, order, and public safety across the province.

However, in a Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting, the police reported that three most prevalent crimes occurred in May 2026 in the province include r**e with 28 cases; murder, 27; and homicide 25 incidence.

The PNPโ€™s eight focus crimes include murder, homicide, r**e, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

PCol Timmar Alam emphasized the importance of close coordination with the community in monitoring these crimes to further improve police operations and crime prevention strategies. (PIA NegOr)
