To improve productivity, profitability and sustainability of rice farmers, the Department of Agriculture Central Visayas hold a 2-day workshop on Rice Crop Manager Advisory Service (RCMAS) from June 24-25, 2025 at a venue in Dauin, Negros Oriental.

RCMAS is an optimized agriculture app which provides farmers nutrient management recommendations and advisories. It is developed to help farmers and Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) job convenient and and efficient.

This upgraded tool is developed by agricultural research organizations like International Rice Research Institute, Philrice and the Department of Agriculture.

Vicky Belnas, Santa Catalina Rice Technician said that she was happy that there is this kind of tool which will help the farmers come up with a better profit.

The Department of Agriculture Central Visayas holds a 2-day Training for Livestock Auction Market Operators from June 17-18, 2025 at a venue in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The training aims to improve animal welfare, enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance with regulations, promote fair trade practices, strengthen biosecurity measures and support economic growth.

Orlando Cabugnason, Representative of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), said that the province is going to upscale the pooling places of all livestock.

Elmer Esplana, Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Deputy Director and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) Staff, said that Local Government Units (LGUs) need to consider government involvement in market activities.

Base on the data, Central Visayas ranked 3 in livestock production which provide the province the edge to upscale the pooling places as Negros Oriental is the major livestock trading.
