𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨! 🌱🚨💪

SDO Zamboanga del Norte through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit in collaboration with the Youth Formation Section successfully conducted the Training on Inclusive DRRM System for Safe and Resilient Schools through Empowerment of Learner Government Officers and Advisers at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City.

A total of 70 student leaders—composed of the 35 District Federated SELG Presidents and 35 District SSLG Presidents—together with their advisers actively participated in this meaningful initiative aimed at strengthening youth engagement in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).

Participants took part in insightful sessions that emphasized the vital role of young leaders in building a culture of safety and resilience in schools and communities.

The training also featured a hands-on hazard mapping activity, where participants identified potential risks in their respective areas and developed practical strategies to mitigate them—promoting proactive and informed decision-making.

Through this activity, our learner leaders are not only equipped with knowledge but are also empowered to take action, lead initiatives, and advocate for safer learning environments.

Together, we build a culture of preparedness—because Ligtas ang bayan kung handa ang mamamayan! 🇵🇭

🚨 𝐒𝐃𝐎 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 🚨

In strong support of the disaster preparedness campaign of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), “Ligtas ang Bayan kung Handa ang Mamamayan,” the Schools Division Office of Zamboanga del Norte (SDO ZN) actively participated in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on March 12, 2026 at 3:30 PM.

During the drill, all personnel promptly performed the life-saving Duck, Cover, and Hold technique upon the sounding of the alarm. As part of the office’s safety protocol, personnel also wore their safety helmets while evacuating to the designated assembly areas, reinforcing the importance of personal protective measures during earthquake emergencies.

The activity also demonstrated the effective activation of the Division Quick Response and Recovery Team (QRRT), which immediately conducted a building safety assessment and inspection to ensure that the office premises were secure and safe for re-entry after the simulated earthquake.

The successful conduct of the drill highlights the division’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, coordination, and response mechanisms within the workplace. Through regular drills and capacity-building activities, SDO Zamboanga del Norte continues to cultivate a culture of safety, vigilance, and resilience among its personnel.

Indeed, preparedness remains a shared responsibility. As emphasized by the NDRRMC campaign, “Ligtas ang Bayan kung Handa ang Mamamayan.”
