LOOK || Through the initiative of the Acting Provincial Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection Region IX – Zamboanga del Norte, FSUPT RICHARD C TIMOSA, RN, JD, DSC, and in collaboration with Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Dapitan City, two (2) fire extinguishers and various school supplies were donated to Selinog Integrated School in Barangay Selinog, Dapitan City. The activity was held at the Schools Division Office (SDO) Conference Hall, Dapitan City, as part of the Brigada Eskwela 2026 launching activities and the Bureau’s continuing commitment to disaster risk reduction, fire safety advocacy, and community resilience.
The partnership was formalized between the BFP – ZDN and the DepEd Schools Division of Dapitan City, represented by SGOD Chief Sherlito E Sagapsapan on behalf of Schools Division Superintendent JAY S MONTEALTO, CESO V. This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to strengthening fire safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and disaster resilience within educational institutions, particularly those located in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The joint undertaking highlights the importance of integrating fire safety education and disaster preparedness into the learning environment. Through the provision of essential safety equipment and educational resources, the initiative seeks to enhance the capacity of schools to prevent, mitigate, and effectively respond to emergencies. Moreover, it reinforces the collective efforts of both agencies in cultivating a culture of preparedness, resilience, and public safety among learners, educators, and the broader community.
The Bureau of Fire Protection remains steadfast in its mission of building safer and more resilient communities through meaningful partnerships and proactive initiatives that promote preparedness, prevention, and public safety, ensuring that no community—regardless of location—is left behind in disaster risk reduction and resilience-building efforts.
