13th Sangguniang Bayan of Diplahan Conducts 47th Regular Session
During the session, Mr. Jethro Abrea Municipal Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (LDRRMO), presented the latest situational report on the effects of Typhoon Inday/Southwest Monsoon within the municipality. According to the official assessment of the Municipal LDRRMO, several barangays have been adversely affected by flooding and rising water levels, with approximately 18% of the municipality's population recorded as affected.
In view of the reported conditions, the Sangguniang Bayan gave urgent consideration to the proposed declaration of a State of Calamity in the Municipality of Diplahan. The declaration is intended to facilitate the immediate utilization of the municipality's Quick Response Fund (QRF), thereby ensuring the prompt delivery of relief and emergency assistance to affected individuals and communities.
The Sangguniang Bayan commended the Municipal Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) for its prompt response, swift rescue operations, and commendable service in ensuring the safety and welfare of the affected residents during this incident.
Also in attendance were representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), led by Atty. Kym Oledan Villaruel, who presented the proposal for the declaration of Simbahan Cave 1, located in Barangay Balangao, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay as a Conservation Area. The proposed declaration aims to safeguard and preserve the ecological, environmental, and geological significance of the site through appropriate conservation and sustainable management measures.
The 47th Regular Session concluded with productive deliberations, reflecting the Sangguniang Bayan's steadfast commitment to responsive governance, sound legislation, environmental protection, disaster resilience, and the promotion of the general welfare of the people of Diplahan.
