Enriqueโs Great Mulberry Farm began its journey in January 2023 with the development of the farm. Mary Grace and her husband decided to start the business after learning about the many health benefits of mulberries and recognizing their potential to improve peopleโs well-being. The business was named after her father-in-law as a tribute to him because of his love for farming. The second name of their eldest son, โGREAT,โ was also included to help him feel connected to the business from an early age. The farm is located in Brgy. 39 Pasiocan, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
At first, the farm was not well known, and only a few people were purchasing and visiting the farm. Aside from fresh mulberry fruits, the business offered only two processed products: mulberry concentrate and mulberry jam. As a new entrepreneur, Mary Grace struggled most in handling marketing and financial management, including reaching target customers, promoting products, and maintaining profitability. Entering a competitive market made selling mulberry products challenging, since not everyone is familiar with or likes mulberries.
Despite these challenges, strong belief in the health benefits and potential of mulberries motivated her to continue. She addressed these challenges by joining the DTI KMME program and participating in trade fairs organized by DTI and other government agencies that support MSMEs. Through these efforts, awareness of the farm and its products increased. Gradually, the business began to enter the market and gain recognition. Positive customer responses and feedback inspire her to keep improving, innovating, and further developing the business.
Today, the business is gradually gaining recognition, more people are supporting it, and a growing number of farm visitors. Its product line has expanded beyond the original two products and now includes mulberry fruit tea, mulberry leaf tea and mulberry wine. Customers can enjoy fresh mulberry fruits directly from the farm through scheduled mulberry-picking during the harvest season, with updates posted on the businessโs page. Enriqueโs Great Mulberry Farmโs products are also available at La Preciosa, located at Arabella Events Place in Laoag City. The business also caters to bulk orders from Mawโs Yogurt House, Triningโs Kitchen Stories in Marikina, and Hapag Ventures, making its products more accessible to a wider market.
For Mary Grace, being an entrepreneur, first and foremost, you need to have passion and truly believe in your product. Keep moving forward, continuously improve your products, and keep learning about your market. Work hard, because success does not come without effort. Always be grateful and seek guidance from God. Do not hesitate to ask for help from government agencies that support MSMEs. She also highlighted how the Kapatid Mentor ME Program, have greatly helped her business grow. โThrough KMME, I developed an entrepreneurial mindset and gained valuable knowledge in marketing, product development, financial management, and business planning. The mentoring sessions guided me in improving our operations, strengthening our branding, and making better business decisions.โ It also opened opportunities for her to join DTI trade fairs and seminars, which promoted their products and helped expand their market.
