EDITED: As of 8:00 PM today, 23 August 2025, Severe Tropical Storm {KAJIKI} (formerly "ISANG") is still being monitored OUTSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08F) located INSIDE the PAR is also being monitored and has a "HIGH" potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.

𝐂𝐃𝐅 𝐀𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲

The City Government of Digos, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), officially turned over the Central Digos Fault (CDF) Atlas to 26 barangays and schools in the city on August 19, 2025, at the EOC Hall, CDRRMO Building, Digos City.
Barangay officials, school heads, and representatives attended the event and received the CDF Atlas, which will serve as a guide for science-based land use planning, zoning ordinance formulation, and disaster risk reduction.

City Vice Mayor and CDRRMC Vice Chairperson Atty. Johari Baña highlighted the importance of enhancing earthquake preparedness in his message of support. He emphasized that this initiative will instill proactive measures such as emergency planning, evacuation drills, and infrastructure reinforcement to minimize the potential impact of a magnitude 6.6 earthquake generated by the said fault.

Acting City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer John Basil A. Sevilla provided an overview of the Central Digos Fault, stressing its risks and its importance in disaster preparedness.

In his executive message, Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas assured the citizens of Digos of the city government’s continuous support in enhancing disaster preparedness efforts. He underscored the importance of utilizing the atlas to inform science-based land use planning, zoning ordinance formulation, and disaster risk reduction initiatives.

Among the officials present during the turnover were City Administrator Rex Fortich Cagas and Technical Adviser and former CDRRMO Officer Samuel Miralles.

The Central Digos Fault is an 18-kilometer fault line that traverses eight barangays in Digos City, namely Goma, Dulangan, Ruparan, Binaton, Tres de Mayo, Kiagot, Zone 1, and Aplaya. It has the potential to generate a magnitude 6.6 earthquake, posing a significant threat to infrastructure, buildings, and residents. To address this, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) released the Central Digos Fault Atlas, a comprehensive mapping initiative aimed at strengthening earthquake preparedness and risk reduction.

By highlighting areas prone to ground rupture hazards, the atlas enables local government units, developers, and residents to make informed decisions and implement safety measures and policies to minimize the potential impact of an earthquake, ultimately enhancing community resilience.
