Sa ikatulong hugna sa Programa sa Probinsya, ilawom sa liderato ni Governor Yvonne R. Cagas, Gipahigayon pag usab sa Provincial Government sa Davao del Sur pinaagi sa Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-LGU ang paghatod og dugang kaalam sa atong mga davsuranong mag-uuma sa Brgy. Pitu, Malalag Davao del Sur mahitungod sa Sustainable Farming Practices and Organic Farming Training, ubos sa Programang Community-Based Forest Management kaniadtong Agosto 27, 2026 na gi pahigayon sa Gov. Dodo RA Cagas Gymnasium, Brgy Pitu, Malalag Davao del Sur.

Gitambongan kini sa 70 ka mga mag-uuma gikan sa People's Organization og ubang benepisyaryong Bisaya og Tribong Tagakaulo sa maong lugar. 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐒𝐜, 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐠 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐇. 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬, 𝐋𝐏𝐓, 𝐑𝐀𝐠𝐫, 𝐌𝐄𝐱𝐄𝐃, 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫.

Dako kaau ang pagpasalamat sa mga participante sa maong 𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 na gi paabot sa LGUs og sa Academe sa pag hatag og dugang kaalam kung unsaon ang saktong pag panguma na dili ma kompirmiso ang kinaiyahan og ang katubigan sa kabukiran. Kini usa ka pamaagi aron ang atong mga kabukiran dili na kini ma convert into agricultural lands na maoy hagit ilabina na kita karon nia na sa Climate Change na panahon.

Tungod niining programaha, mas makab-ot pa nato ang malungtarong pag panguma na silbing nagahatag kanato sa atong adlawng-adlaw na panginabuhian og source sa atong pagkaon.

𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐈𝐍 𝐃𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐎 𝐃𝐄𝐋 𝐒𝐔𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐄

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office–LGU (PENRO-LGU), through its Watershed Protection and Development Program, recently conducted a coordination meeting and initial site inspection for the proposed School Tree Park at the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC)–Matanao Extension Campus in Barangay Kapoc, Matanao, Davao del Sur.

The activity held on August 26, 2026, brought together the PENRO-LGU, Matanao Extension Campus Administrator, and faculty members of the DSSC Agroforestry Department to discuss future plans for the proposed School Tree Park. An initial site validation and delineation of the proposed area, which is located near a river system, was also conducted.

More than a tree-planting site, the envisioned School Tree Park aims to become a space for forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and research. It is envisioned to provide students of Agroforestry, Biology, Environmental Science, and other environment-related courses with opportunities to learn, conduct research, and contribute to environmental protection.

This initial undertaking marks an important step toward a stronger partnership between the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur and Davao del Sur State College. The development of the proposed area may also be strengthened through a Memorandum of Cooperation, which can serve as a foundation for the shared commitment, roles, and future initiatives of both institutions.

Through collaboration between the Provincial Government and the academe, the proposed School Tree Park can become a meaningful space for forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and environmental learning to students and future generations.

In keeping with its commitment to helping build more sustainable communities, Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) has partnered with the Municipalities of Sulop and Matanao in Davao del Sur to enhance local waste management and recycling efforts. Through CCEAP’s Tapon to Ipon program, the turnover of a baling machine to each municipality will help the collection, storage, and transport of clear PET plastic bottles for recycling.

Among gipasalamatan usab ang dedikadong ICM Program Staff sa PENRO tungod sa inyong walay kapoy nga pagpaningkamot, kakugi, ug dedikasyon sa pag-instalar sa mga lambat aron mapugngan ang basura sa pagsulod sa Passig Islet.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐒𝐒𝐂

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) through its Solid Waste Management Program provided six (6) garbage bins to the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC).

This initiative supports the College’s commitment to promoting environmental responsibility and maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable campus by providing accessible garbage bins within the college premises.

The provision of garbage bins also aims to encourage students, faculty, staff, and visitors to practice proper waste segregation and disposal, while strengthening awareness of the importance of responsible solid waste management.

PENRO-LGU remains committed to strengthening partnerships with educational institutions and other stakeholders in promoting proper solid waste management, environmental awareness, and sustainable practices for the benefit of present and future generations. 🌱♻️

August 13, 2026 | The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), through its Solid Waste Management Program, successfully convened the Third Quarter Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) Meeting to discuss the current status, updates, and ongoing initiatives on solid waste management implementation across the Province of Davao del Sur.

The meeting served as a venue for the Board to review the accomplishments of the province’s solid waste management programs, assess the solid waste management implementation and discuss strategies to further strengthen waste reduction, segregation, recycling, and disposal management among the LGUs.

The activity was participated by the members of the Provincial Solid Waste Management Board pursuant to Executive Order No. 57, Series of 2025, issued by Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas, along with representatives from national government agencies, local government units, partner institutions, and other key stakeholders.

In the afternoon, a Ceremonial Signing of the Deed of Donation was held for the provision of baling machines by Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) to the Municipalities of Sulop and Matanao, Province of Davao del Sur. The donation aims to enhance the recycling and recovery of recyclable materials and support their continuing efforts toward sustainable and effective solid waste management.

The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur remains committed to fostering strong partnerships with the private sector and other stakeholders in advancing environmental protection, resource recovery, and the effective implementation of solid waste management programs throughout the province.

Dako ang suporta nga gihatag sa atong mga Faculties gikan sa College of Agriculture and Related Sciences sa Davao del Sur State College, kinsa maoy nanguna sa pagtudlo ug paggiya sa atong mga mag-uuma. Lakip kanila si 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙡𝙛 𝙊. 𝙈𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙈𝙎𝙘, nga eksperto sa kalasangan ug konserbasyon og sa sustenableng pagpanguma ug si Sir 𝙅𝙖𝙮 𝙍𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤 𝙀𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙨, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, 𝙍𝘼𝙜𝙧, 𝙈𝙀𝙭𝙀𝘿 kinsa nga nitudlo sa organikong pamaagi sa pagtanom.

Tumong niining maong training nga mapakusog ug mapalambo pa ang mga kaumahan sa atong mga mag-uuma pinaagi sa pagtudlo kanila sa mga pamaagi sama sa contour farming, terracing, cover cropping, composting, ug uban pang organikong teknik nga makatabang sa pagpreserbar sa katambok sa yuta, makapugong sa pagguho niini, ug makahatag og mas taas ug mas himsog nga abot sa mga tanom.

Kini usa ka paningkamot nga nagpakita sa padayon nga pagtuo sa Provincial Government sa Davao del Sur sa gahum sa edukasyon ug kooperasyon aron makab-ot ang mas sustenableng kaugmaon alang sa tanang Davsuranong mag-uuma.

Padayon kitang magtinabangay alang sa malungtarong pagpanguma ug mas lunhaw nga palibot!

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐮 𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐮𝐧𝐚

𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝑅𝑒𝓂𝒶𝒾𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑀𝑜𝓃𝓉𝒶𝓃𝑒 𝐹𝑜𝓇𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝑜𝒻 𝒟𝒶𝓋𝒶𝑜 𝒹𝑒𝓁 𝒮𝓊𝓇

Mt. Datu Dumalao Altut Tuna is one of the last remaining montane forest landscapes in Davao del Sur. It serves as a vital habitat for wildlife, protects watersheds, stores carbon, and supports the livelihoods of surrounding communities.

The Local Government Unit of Matanao, under the leadership of Mayor Irick A. Agbon, together with its partners, is pursuing the declaration of Mt. Datu Dumalao Altut Tuna as a Local Conservation Area to ensure the long-term protection of its rich biodiversity.

Together with the local communities of Altut Tuna and the Blaan Clan of Datu Dumalao, let us protect the remaining montane forest of Davao del Sur from illegal logging—for the benefit of present and future generations.
