DIGOS CITY, September 5, 2026 โ The City Government of Digos planted 578 mangrove seedlings at Punta Biao, Barangay Cogon, today as part of the 26th Araw ng Digos celebration, which runs from September 4 to 6, with more than 400 volunteers joining the cityโs coastal conservation efforts.
The Mangrove Tree Planting and Coastal Cleanup Activity was conducted as part of the Saturday Service Program of the City Government, bringing together volunteers from the City Government of Digos, national government agencies, private institutions, and community organizations.
In addition to the mangrove planting, volunteers conducted a coastal cleanup, collecting waste along the shoreline and surrounding areas.
Vice Mayor Atty. Johari Baรฑa expressed his appreciation to the volunteers, recognizing their participation as part of a collective effort to advance environmental protection in the city. He underscored Digos Cityโs sustained commitment to implementing continuous, medium- and long-term environmental programs that promote the conservation of its natural resources.
The initiative reflects the City Government of Digosโ continuing commitment to environmental stewardship through its Saturday Service Program and sustained environmental initiatives, fostering collective action among government, partner organizations, and communities toward the protection of the cityโs coastal resources.
