The Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) conducted continued monitoring of fuel prices and inventory among fuel establishments in Digos City in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE) Mindanao Field Office and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao del Sur on March 8, 2026.
The monitoring activity was joined by Senior Science Research Specialists Rodolfo A. Leal and Maria Lyn Perin of the DOE โ Oil Industry Management Division (OIMD), Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Ramir D. Labastida of DTI Davao del Sur โ Consumer Protection Division, City Administrator Rex Cagas, and representatives from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Tapik Digos.
The DOE emphasized that the monitoring aims to protect consumers from unauthorized and unscheduled fuel price increases, particularly amid the current fuel situation. The agency also reminded all fuel establishments to follow the pump prices set from March 6 to 9 to ensure compliance and avoid violations. The ongoing monitoring seeks to prevent price manipulation, hoarding, and illegal fuel sales.
The DOE will continue coordinating with local government units in the coming weeks to monitor fuel establishments and expand coverage to more municipalities in Mindanao. Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry reminded the public to avoid panic buying of basic necessities and prime commodities. The agency continues to conduct intensified weekly price monitoring with the assistance of Negosyo Centers in various municipalities and remains open to addressing public inquiries and concerns regarding pricing.
The LPCC will sustain its monitoring of fuel prices and inventory in the city, in coordination with concerned national agencies, to help ensure a stable fuel supply and fair pricing for consumers.
