OPENING BLOCK ACTIVITIES TO CONTINUE DURING CLASS SUSPENSION
Dear Parents, Learners, and Community Partners,
Despite the temporary suspension of face-to-face classes, learning and school engagement will continue through online and other accessible means. We encourage everyone to stay connected as we begin the school year together while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our learners.
Day 1: Getting to Know Our Classroom and Learners
Teachers will:
β’ Introduce simple classroom rules, expectations, and agreements.
β’ Inform learners of the basic learning materials they need to prepare, such as notebooks, portfolios, and other school supplies for the opening of regular classes.
β’ Conduct simple learner profiling and familiarization activities through available online platforms.
β’ Share and discuss the Department of Education's Core Values to help set a positive tone for the school year.
Day 2: Reading and Numeracy Activities
Teachers will:
β’ Facilitate simple reading activities and assessments using available reading materials and resources.
β’ Conduct basic numeracy exercises consisting of simple mathematical questions to help determine learners' current skills and learning needs.
Day 3: Learner Welfare and Safety
Teachers will:
β’ Conduct activities that promote Child Protection and learner well-being.
β’ Share important information and awareness activities related to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) to help learners stay safe during emergencies.
Important Reminders
β’ All activities will remain light, simple, and learner-friendly. Learners who are unable to participate online will not be required to do so. Participation is highly encouraged, but we remain understanding of the challenges brought about by the current situation.
β’ Our official school page will continue to serve as a primary platform for updates, announcements, and learning-related activities. Through this platform, we will:
Share Opening Block activities and accomplishments;
Provide important school updates;
Promote the message that learning continues even during challenging times;
Share relevant advisories and advocacy messages from the Department of Education.
β’ Teachers will continue preparing learning materials and documenting activities to ensure that learners remain supported during the suspension period.
β’ The school will continue to monitor the distribution of textbooks and other learning resources to ensure that learners receive the materials they need as soon as possible.
β’ Necessary instructional materials for teachers will also be provided following existing DepEd guidelines and policies.
