IN PHOTOS Cluster 6 Convenes for Solidarity Meeting Ahead of Cluster Meet 2026

In preparation for the upcoming Cluster Meet 2026, advisers, coaches, school heads, and representatives from Cluster 6 gathered for a Solidarity Meeting at Tacunan National High School on July 23.

The meeting focused on discussing the final preparations, event guidelines, schedules, and other important matters to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Cluster Meet on July 25–26, 2026.

It also served as an opportunity for participating schools to strengthen coordination and collaboration while reaffirming their commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play.

Through the Solidarity Meeting, Cluster 6 continues to promote unity and cooperation among member schools as they work together toward a safe, organized, and successful athletic competition for all student-athletes.

𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭

Tacunan National High School proudly took part in the 2026 Davao Region-Wide Nutrition Month Poster-Making Contest held on July 18, 2026, at Holy Cross of Agdao, Davao City. Representing the school were Hannah Maruel D. Montorio of Grade 11–Macapagal and CJ O. Ultiano of Grade 10–Diamond, with Ma’am Dane Agcambot serving as their coach and moderator.

The regional contest brought together 16 schools from Davao City, giving young artists the chance to express their ideas through art. Each participant created a poster based on this year’s Nutrition Month theme, showing how good nutrition and caring for the environment go hand in hand in building a healthier future.

The activity was organized by the Davao City Youth for Green Environment (DCYGE) in partnership with the National Nutrition Council (NNC). It became a meaningful event where students used their creativity to promote healthy living, environmental care, and the important role of the youth in creating positive change.

Throughout the competition, Hannah and CJ proudly carried the name of Tacunan National High School by showing their artistic talent and dedication. Their participation reflected the school’s commitment to developing students’ skills, creativity, and awareness of important community issues through the arts.

Tacunan National High School congratulates Hannah and CJ for representing the school with pride and extends its sincere appreciation to Ma’am Dane Agcambot for her guidance and support. Their journey in the regional competition serves as an inspiration to fellow students to use their talents not only to create beautiful artworks but also to share meaningful messages that can make a difference.

The result is yet to be announced on July 30, 2026.

Tacunan NHS Launches Pickleball Court for Faculty Wellness Program

Tacunan National High School officially opened its Pickleball Court on July 17, 2026 to promote health and well-being of its teaching and non-teaching personnel.

The school stands it's commitment in support to the school's Wellness Program. This playing venue will encourage teachers to adopt an active lifestyle, reduce work-related stress, and strengthen camaraderie through recreational sports. In addition, the opening of pickleball court marks another milestone in the school's continuous efforts in recognizing the importance of balancing work and personal well-being.

After the court was declared open for use, teachers enthusiastically gathered to experience the new facility. Equipped with pickleball paddles and balls, they participated in friendly games and learned the basics of the sport. The excitement and positive energy shared among the participants reflected the success of the initiative, as teachers enjoyed the opportunity to exercise, interact, and build stronger relationships with one another outside the classroom setting.

The attached photo captures the memorable first day of the court's official use, showing the teachers proudly posing on the newly established pickleball court before engaging in friendly matches. Their smiles and enthusiasm demonstrate the warm reception of the school's newest wellness facility and highlight the importance of promoting a healthy and active workplace. It is envisioned that the facility will continue to serve as a venue for regular physical activities, recreational games, and future wellness programs that contribute to the physical, mental, and social well-being of every member of the school community.

SK Tacunan Extends Support to Tacunan NHS Learners

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Tacunan strengthened its commitment to education and youth welfare through the donation of school uniforms to selected students of Tacunan National High School.

The initiative, headed by SK Chairman Jerlyn L. Parantar and spearheaded together with Hon. Krystal Claire Agustin and the SK Council, provided 1 complete set of uniforms to chosen learners from Grades 7, 8, and 11.

The project aims to support students who are experiencing financial difficulties and ensure that they can attend school with confidence and pride.

SK Chairman Parantar emphasized that providing assistance to the youth remains one of the council's primary advocacies. “Gusto namo tabangan ang mga estudyante na dili pa maka-provide ug uniform, isa na sa among mga projects sa SK to provide tangible and meaningful projects to the teens of Tacunan,” she shared.

The initiative reflects the SK's dedication to creating projects that directly benefit the young people of Barangay Tacunan and encourage them to continue pursuing their education despite challenges.

The project is also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4: Access to Quality Education, with the goal of easing the financial burden on families while ensuring that students possess one of the most essential school requirements.

The beneficiaries were carefully selected based on SK guidelines and recommendations from the school to ensure that the assistance reaches deserving learners who are in need of support.

Fara Jean C. Maglana, Head Teacher I expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the SK officials for their generosity and concern for the students. “Salamat kaayo sa initiative sa SK in providing 1 full set of uniform to the chosen Grade 7, 8, and 11 students of our school,” she said.

Meanwhile, Grade 7 student Marten L. Moralde could not hide his joy upon receiving the assistance. “Salamat sa mga ate ug kuya namo sa paghatag ug uniform. Naa na jud me masuot every day. Lipay kaayo ko sa akong bag-ong uniform,” he shared.

The activity highlighted the spirit of community service and demonstrated how collaborative efforts between youth leaders and educational institutions can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.

Tacunan NHS Arnis Team Advances to Batang Pinoy 2026 in Bacolod City

The Tacunan Arnis Team proudly secured its spot in the upcoming Batang Pinoy 2026 after delivering an outstanding performance in the Batang Pinoy Arnis Tryouts conducted by the Davao City Sports Division on June 21, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Mindanao.

Through their remarkable display of discipline, determination, and skill, the athletes earned the opportunity to represent Tacunan National High School and Davao City in the prestigious national event scheduled on December 12–18, 2026, in Bacolod City.

Among the athletes who emerged as national qualifiers were Flynn Ysabelle Canillo, who won the gold medal in the Traditional Single Weapon category and a bronze medal in the Padded Event; Mary Janine Del Rosario, who captured the gold medal in the Padded Event and bronze in the Live Stick category; and Ma. Mariz D. Lavarez, who earned a gold medal in the Live Stick category and a silver medal in the Padded Stick event.

Their victories reflected the countless hours of rigorous training, perseverance, and dedication they have invested in mastering the art of Arnis. Their achievements have brought pride and honor not only to Tacunan National High School but also to the entire Tacunan community.

Coach Sir Vincent G. Ultiano expressed his happiness and pride over the team's success. “Happy ko na nakaabot mi sa Batang Pinoy. Nagbunga ang mga training sa mga bata. Makita nimo sa ilaha nga gusto kaayo nila makadaog ug i-represent ang Tacunan NHS,” he shared. His guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in developing the athletes' skills and confidence.

Grade 7 Arnis player Flynn Ysabelle Canillo also shared her excitement for the upcoming national competition. “Excited nako sa Batang Pinoy. Mag sige kami ug practice para mas maka-tuon ug ma-master ang among mga skills,” she said.

As the competition draws near, the Tacunan Arnis Team continues to intensify its preparations, carrying with them the hopes and pride of Tacunan National High School as they aim to make their mark on the national stage in Bacolod City.

Dreams Fulfilled: ALS Learners of Tacunan NHS March Toward a Brighter Future

The Calinan Central Elementary School Gymnasium became a place of inspiration and triumph as Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners gathered for the Graduation and Moving-Up Ceremony on July 5, 2026.

Carrying the theme, “Filipino Graduates: Prepare to Lead with Competence and Character,” the event celebrated the perseverance and determination of learners who chose education despite the challenges they faced.

Among those who proudly joined the ceremony were the 25 completers from Tacunan National High School ALS, whose smiles reflected years of hard work and sacrifices.

The ceremony highlighted the transformative power of education, proving that learning has no age limit and that second chances can lead to remarkable achievements.

Parents, teachers, and guests witnessed emotional moments as graduates received their certificates, marking the fulfillment of dreams that once seemed distant. For many learners, completing their studies through ALS symbolized hope, resilience, and the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their families.

ALS Teacher Jean R. Toroba, expressed her heartfelt pride for the graduates, saying, “Proud kaayo ko sa mga ning graduate, nakab-ot nagyud nila ilang pangandoy na diploma. Dili man lalim pero nakita nako ilang paningkamot ug pag-kugi na makahuman.” Her words echoed the collective sentiment of the ALS community, recognizing the graduates' unwavering dedication and perseverance.

As they move forward to new opportunities, these completers carry not only their diplomas but also the values of competence, character, and resilience that will guide them in becoming future leaders of society.

Wow!! Congrats to our very own, Sir Noel B. Sulotan! 🎉🎉🎉

Born into a poor family with ten siblings, Noel Banggat Sulotan grew up knowing how difficult life could be. His father was a farmer and blacksmith, while his mother stayed at home to care for the family. Despite their hardships, Noel loved going to school and dreamed of finishing his education. However, after completing elementary school, his father could no longer afford to send him to high school and instead asked him to work to help support the family.

At just 13 years old, Noel left home for Davao City to look for work. He took on different jobs from being an all-around helper in a carinderia to working in a grocery store and later in a clinic. Although life was challenging, he never gave up on his dream of studying.

In 2012, a friend encouraged him to enroll in the Alternative Learning System (ALS). Unsure of what ALS was at first, Noel took the opportunity and enrolled. Through the guidance of his ALS teacher and his own determination, he passed the Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test with an average of 89%. ALS became the bridge that allowed him to continue the education he thought he had lost.

His ALS journey opened the door to college, where he earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. Although he faced several failed attempts in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), he refused to quit. Encouraged by a close friend and driven by perseverance, Noel continued preparing until he finally became a Licensed Professional Teacher.

Today, Noel proudly shares that ALS changed the course of his life. From once being a learner who was given a second chance, he now gives back by helping others discover the same opportunity through ALS.

His story reminds us that poverty, age, and life's challenges are never barriers to achieving our dreams.

With determination, the support of others, and the opportunity that ALS provides, success is always within reach.
