What a meaningful way to wrap up an inspiring three-day conference!

The final day of the 18th DACUN Phil-BIST Conference and Fair continued to provide valuable learning opportunities for library and information professionals, bringing the conference theme, โ€œRegenerating Libraries in a Connected World: Leadership, Innovation, Wellness, and Ethics for the Future,โ€ to a meaningful close.

Dr. Joseph M. Yap, PhD shared his insights on โ€œEthics in the Age of AI: Privacy, Equity, and Intellectual Freedom,โ€ exploring the ethical challenges and responsibilities that come with the growing role of artificial intelligence in libraries, education, and information services. His discussion emphasized the importance of responsible and ethical use of technology while protecting the rights and freedoms of information users.

Dr. Mary Ann Rose C. Bartolo, RGC, LPT presented โ€œHealthy Mind, Healthy Systems: Wellness Strategies for Librarians in a Digital Environment,โ€ highlighting the importance of well-being, resilience, balance, and healthy practices for librarians navigating an increasingly digital professional environment.

Day 3 reminded us that as libraries continue to evolve, ethical leadership and the well-being of library professionals must remain at the heart of innovation. Technology may transform the way we work, but our commitment to people, ethics, service, and meaningful connections remains essential.

DAY 2: INNOVATION, CONNECTION, AND A NIGHT OF FELLOWSHIP

Day 2 of the 18th DACUN Conference and Fair continued the journey of learning, collaboration, and professional growth under the theme, โ€œRegenerating Libraries in a Connected World: Leadership, Innovation, Wellness, and Ethics for the Future.โ€

The day brought fresh perspectives, creative ideas, and meaningful conversations that encouraged library professionals to view libraries from a more innovative, inclusive, and user-centered perspective.

Mr. Bryan Boy C. Cortez, RL, LPT shared valuable insights on โ€œUser Experience in Smart Libraries: Designing Inclusive Digital Services,โ€ highlighting the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and creating digital library experiences that respond to the diverse needs of users.

Mr. Isidro C. Padpad explored โ€œDesign Thinking in Libraries: Creative Solutions for User-Centered Services,โ€ inspiring participants to embrace creativity, empathy, collaboration, and innovation in developing library services that are responsive to the communities we serve.

Day 2 reminded us that the future of libraries is not only about technology. It is about people, purpose, creativity, and innovation. It is about creating spaces and services where everyone can connect, learn, and thrive.

And as the day came to a close, the learning continued in a different way through the Fellowship Night!

The evening provided an opportunity for librarians, educators, exhibitors, and partners to unwind, celebrate, strengthen friendships, and build meaningful professional connections beyond the conference sessions. It was a wonderful reminder that while we gather to learn and grow professionally, we also build a community through shared experiences, laughter, and fellowship.

The event officially began with a Holy Mass, offering a moment of prayer, gratitude, and reflection as library and information professionals gathered for this significant occasion. This was followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of the conference and fair.

After the opening ceremonies, participants engaged in workshops, talks, and insightful discussions with distinguished speakers, providing valuable opportunities to gain new knowledge, exchange ideas, and learn from the experiences and expertise of fellow library and information professionals.

With this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œRegenerating Libraries in a Connected World: Leadership, Innovation, Wellness, and Ethics for the Future,โ€ Day 1 highlighted the importance of continuous learning, innovation, leadership, wellness, and ethical practice in shaping the future of librarianship.
