We kicked off the festivities as we celebrated the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 last Friday with an incredible afternoon of culture, faith, and cinema.

The celebration began with an insightful forum by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗥𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗼 on the fascinating 𝙁𝙤𝙡𝙠 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨, exploring how our ancient beliefs still shape our identity today.

Following the discussion, the 𝗙𝗗𝗖𝗣 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 hosted a very special screening of the legendary Filipino classic, 𝙃𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖—the perfect cinematic reflection on faith and society.

Thank you to 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗼 and the 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼; to the 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to their support for making this event possible, and everyone who joined us in honoring our roots!

𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍
(Proclamation No. 01, series of 2026)

In order to give way to clearing operations and ensure the safety and welfare of individuals affected by flooding incidents in the city due to heavy rainfall brought by Easterlies and ITCZ on Monday evening, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔:

1. Face-to-face classes and school activities in ALL LEVELS in all public and private educational institutions in the city are hereby suspended;

2. Work in all national and local government offices, including government-owned and controlled corporations in Davao City, is suspended, EXCEPT for offices performing safety and security, health, social services and disaster and emergency response services;

3. Private offices and establishments are given the discretion to suspend work but are encouraged to do so for the welfare and safety of their employees.

LOOK. The Film Development Council of the Philippines Cinematheque Davao, along with Museo Dabawenyo and the Davao City Office of the Culture and Arts, celebrates National Heritage Month 2026 in May through upcoming film screenings and exhibit with the theme,
"Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future."

Film screenings are scheduled on May 14, 15, 20, and the special screening of the late National Artist Nora Aunor's "Himala" on May 29, with a forum on Philippine folk religion on the same day at Cinematheque Davao.

Meanwhile, Museo Dabaw with other partner organizations will be holding the "Calle San Pedro" exhibit at the 5th floor of the National Museum Davao starting May 29 to August, featuring tribal photographs, artifacts, and artworks.

𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐖 𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐀𝐆𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐀!

Sa pagitan ng 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝟯 at 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝟲, 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟱, ang pagpapalaya sa Davao ay nagsilbing isang mahalagang yugto sa kampanya ng Pilipinas upang mapalayas ang mga puwersang Hapones noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig. Bilang pangunahing bahagi ng mas malawak na Labanan sa Mindanao, layunin ng operasyong ito na mabawing muli ang Lungsod ng Davao, na siyang pinakamalaking lungsod sa isla at isang estratehikong base ng mga Hapones.

Ang 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 ay kaisa ng mga Dabawenyo sa pag-alala sa mga bayaning sakripisyo noong Pagpapalaya ng Davao noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig, isang mahalagang sandali sa ating lokal at pambansang kasaysayan.
