A meaningful Senior Citizens Meeting was conducted at Barangay Baliok, led by Sir Lorenzo C. Borja, Head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).

The meeting focused on discussing the concerns and needs of senior citizens, providing important updates, and strengthening coordination regarding upcoming programs, activities, meetings, and other matters concerning senior citizens.

The activity was held with the support and cooperation of Barangay Baliok, under the leadership of Barangay Captain Ricky "Eking" Liparanon, whose assistance contributed to the successful conduct of the meeting.

The OSCA remains committed to working closely with barangay officials, Senior Citizens Chapter Presidents, and community partners to ensure that the concerns and voices of senior citizens are heard and properly addressed.

A Special Federation Meeting for Senior Citizens was conducted at Barangay Pampanga, led by Sir Lorenzo C. Borja, Head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), together with Sir Manuel Ramos.

The meeting focused on discussing important concerns, providing updates, and addressing matters affecting senior citizens, including upcoming programs, activities, meetings, and releases.

The gathering provided a meaningful opportunity for senior citizens to voice their concerns, share their suggestions, and actively participate in discussions concerning their welfare and community involvement.

The activity was made possible through the valuable assistance and support of Kagawad Aida Balaman and the active participation of the Senior Citizens Chapter Presidents and representatives.

The OSCA remains committed to strengthening communication and ensuring that the voices and concerns of senior citizens are heard, addressed, and given appropriate attention.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for senior citizens to express their voices, raise their concerns, and share their suggestions, ensuring that their needs and interests are properly heard and addressed.

The activity was made possible through the active participation of the Senior Citizens Chapter Presidents and the valuable assistance of Kagawad Inday Gatan.

The Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), City Government of Davao, led by Sir Lorenzo C. Borja, OSCA Head, conducted district visits and special meetings with the Senior Citizens Federation.

The activity was conducted with the participation of Federation Presidents Medelyn Gonzales and Natividad C. Aleo, together with the presence of Ma’am Perla Redulosa.

The meetings served as an avenue to discuss important concerns, programs, and matters affecting senior citizens, while strengthening communication and coordination between OSCA and the Senior Citizens Federation in the two districts.

OSCA – City Government of Davao continues to bring information, support, and services closer to our senior citizens.

Davao City Vice Mayor Rigo Duterte led the observance of the 95th National Heroes Day in Davao City on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Osmeña Park, joined by city officials, security and defense leaders, war veterans, foreign diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

National Heroes Day reminds us of the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of Filipino heroes who fought for the freedom, rights, and welfare of our country. Despite the hardships and challenges they faced during times of war, they remained courageous and steadfast in their pursuit of a free and peaceful nation.

As we commemorate this important occasion, may the spirit of kabayanihan, patriotism, unity, and selfless service continue to inspire every Filipino, especially our senior citizens, who have made valuable contributions to the growth and development of our communities.

The Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), City Government of Davao, was represented by Sir Lorenzo C. Borja, OSCA Head, who joined the city in honoring and remembering the invaluable sacrifices and enduring legacy of our national heroes.

The 2nd Inter-Chapter Competition of the Barangay Matina Pangi Senior Citizens Federation was successfully held at Badon Gymnasium, Km. 7, Matina Pangi, Davao City, gathering more than 1,000 senior citizens from the eleven senior citizens’ chapters of Barangay Matina Pangi.

The activity served as a meaningful celebration of the wisdom, contributions, and active participation of our senior citizens, while promoting camaraderie, unity, friendship, and healthy competition among the different chapters.

As part of the celebration, a Medical Mission for Senior Citizens was also conducted, providing health services and assistance to the participating elderly. The medical mission was made possible through the partnership and support of Borough Lasik Center and Anlene, in coordination with the City Health Office and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).

The Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) extends its appreciation to the Barangay Matina Pangi Senior Citizens Federation, headed by President Ramero C. Burdeos, together with Vice President Charlotte R. Cabudte; Secretary Lo**ta G. Agro; Treasurer Minda A. Benedicto; Auditor Minda C. Cabania; Business Manager Jose G. Paguio; P.I.O. Marilyn Gayoll; and Board of Directors Marlo De Guia, Thelma P. Lavisores, Ramon Jardenico, and Manolo Abao, for their dedication and efforts in organizing this meaningful celebration.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the eleven senior citizens’ chapters of Barangay Matina Pangi — Young Ones, Patriarch, D’ Stars, United Group, Wisdom, Young @ Heart, Buenas Senior, Golden Aged, Hope, Share and Care, and Golden Era Guardian — for their enthusiastic participation and continued commitment to promoting the welfare and active involvement of senior citizens.

The Davao City Disaster Radio welcomed Lorenzo C. Borja, Head of the Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA), as guest, anchored by Mr. James Galay.

The discussion provided important updates concerning programs and services for senior citizens, including the Annual Financial Assistance (AFA), Expanded Centenarian Act (ECA), Social Pension, and other programs intended to support the welfare, well-being, and quality of life of older persons.

The discussion also highlighted the upcoming National Food Security and Sufficiency Program, which aims to encourage senior citizens to participate in urban gardening and small-scale food production within their homes, communities, and available spaces.

Through this initiative, senior citizens are encouraged to utilize vacant areas, available spaces, backyards, pathways, and other suitable areas within their premises or communities for planting vegetables, herbs, and other food-producing plants. Even limited spaces can be maximized through container gardening, vertical gardening, and other practical urban gardening methods.

The program aims to help senior citizens become active participants in promoting household and community food security, while encouraging healthy lifestyles, productive use of available spaces, environmental awareness, and community cooperation.

One of the current initiatives is being undertaken at Gulfview, where a vacant lot has been generously made available by the donor for the development of an urban gardening area. With the participation and support of senior citizens, the project aims to provide a sustainable gardening space that will benefit senior citizens residing in the area and members of their respective senior citizens’ associations.

This initiative is being pursued through collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) – Nutrition Division, City Agriculturist’s Office, Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and other private-sector partners.

The active involvement of senior citizens in urban gardening demonstrates that they can continue to make meaningful contributions to their families and communities. By providing opportunities to plant, cultivate, and produce food, the program promotes not only food security and self-sufficiency but also active ageing, community participation, environmental responsibility, and productive engagement among senior citizens.

The Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) remains committed to supporting programs that empower senior citizens and provide them with meaningful opportunities to participate in initiatives that contribute to the development of healthier, more sustainable, and resilient communities.

𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐀 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 | 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) XI – Davao Region successfully conducted the Muslim Filipinos’ Registry: Mobile Registration and Advocacy Campaign at the Barangay 76-A Bucana Community, in partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XI.

This initiative aims to inform and guide community members on the proper steps, requirements, and procedures for registering with different government agencies and accessing government services. It also helps make the registration process easier to understand and more accessible, especially for Muslim Filipinos, senior citizens, and other individuals who may need assistance.

Our sincere appreciation goes to Barangay Captain Hon. Robert E. Olanolan, the Barangay Staff, Davao City Health Office – Bucana Health Office, Ms. Maridel Bulang, Leader of the Muslim Community in Barangay Bucana, and the participating representatives from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and the Local Civil Registrar Office.

We also extend our gratitude to Lorenzo C. Borja, Head of the Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA), for his participation and support in this meaningful activity.

A productive Senior Citizens Chapter Meeting was held at Barangay Bago Gallera, attended by the Chapter Presidents, Senior Citizens, Barangay Staff, and Barangay Captain Rey Plaza Gervacio.

The meeting focused on discussing important senior citizens’ matters, concerns, and programs, as well as strengthening coordination and cooperation for the welfare and well-being of our senior citizens.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their time and support. Together, let us continue working towards a more active, empowered, and well-supported senior citizen community.
