𝟭𝟯 𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝟰𝟭𝗦𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡

The 41st Regular Session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Dabaw highlighted the City Council’s continuing work on local governance, administrative accountability, and educational partnership.

The session welcomed the Courtesy Visit of Vice Mayor Maurice Phillip Alexis S. Albayda of the Municipality of Kalayaan, Palawan, who expressed his gratitude to the City of Davao for its continued support of their municipality.

Among the measures approved under Business for the Day was the Proposed Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 084, Series of 2000, which defines the Quasi-Judicial Powers of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and Prescribes the Rules and Procedures for the Administration of Complaints against Elective Barangay Officials.

Also taken up during the session under Suspended Rules, A Resolution Authorizing the City Mayor to enter into and sign, on behalf of the City Government of Davao, a Memorandum of Agreement with Central Mindanao University for an On-The-Job Training (OJT) Partnership, further strengthening collaboration in educational and professional development.

Councilor Atty. Rachel P. Zozobrado continues to support initiatives that promote accountable local governance, strengthen institutional partnerships, and expand opportunities for learning and public service.

Councilor Atty. Rachel P. Zozobrado, together with fellow city councilors, walked the ramp in full solidarity with breast cancer warriors, survivors, and advocates during The Pink Runway at SM City Davao Annex.

More than a fashion showcase, the runway served as a powerful celebration of life, strength, and hope, with survivors confidently modeling upcycled designs by fellow warrior Susan Magno Antepuesto. The initiative underscored the vital importance of regular screenings, early diagnosis, and continuing support so that no woman faces the journey alone.

Dedicated to championing responsive healthcare initiatives, early screening awareness, and continuous support for our brave Dabawenya warriors!

Councilor Atty. Rachel P. Zozobrado welcomed representatives from the Mission to Seafarers Philippines (MTS Ph) to discuss joint initiatives for the welfare of local seafarers and their families.

The discussion focused on providing practical support, mental health and financial programs, and community-based family networks for Dabawenyo maritime workers.

Yesterday’s 40th Regular Session highlighted the City Council’s continuing commitment to advancing health, education, and community welfare through meaningful legislative measures and initiatives.

The session featured the privilege speech of Councilor Trisha Villafuerte on the Pink October Runway 2026, an initiative in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of awareness, early detection, and support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

The City Council further conferred on Item No. 1089-26, the proposed Memorandum of Agreement to be entered into by and among the Department of Education–Division of Davao City, the Local Government Unit of Davao City, and Ayala Foundation, Inc., concerning the CENTEX Digital Education Program, an education initiative aimed at strengthening digital learning opportunities for students.

Also taken up was Item No. 624-26, the proposed Ordinance Granting Financial Assistance and Special Recognition to Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and other qualified Barangay Volunteer Workers in Davao City, appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes.

These discussions reflect Councilor Rachel P. Zozobrado’s continued support for initiatives that advance health awareness, strengthen educational opportunities, and recognize the valuable contributions of barangay volunteers in Davao City.

Usa kini ka maayong lakang aron dasigon ang atong mga kaigsuonan sa pagpabiling aktibo, abtik, ug himsog pinaagi sa sports. Gawas sa bibo nga dula, dalaygon usab ang paningkamot sa komunidad nga magkahiusa ug mapalambo ang maayong panag-uban ug sportsmanship sa Distrito Tres.

Councilor Atty. Rachel P. Zozobrado, as Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry, joined the Committee Hearing led by Chairperson Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, together with Councilor J. Melchor B. Quitain Jr. and Councilor Trisha Ann J. Villafuerte, for an inquiry in aid of legislation on the proliferation of illicit and counterfeit ci******es and e-ci******es in Davao City. This was an offshoot to Councilor Zozobrado’s Privilege Speech on the matter.

The body deliberated on the proposed "Davao City Anti-Illicit To***co and V***r Products Ordinance," which aims to prohibit the illicit trade of to***co and v***r products to protect public health and prevent local revenue losses. Representatives from relevant government agencies, law enforcement, and private sector stakeholders were present to provide critical inputs toward refining the measure.

Dedicated to enacting responsive local policies that safeguard Dabawenyos, support lawful enterprises, and keep communities safe and orderly!

𝟐𝟗 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝟑𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

Yesterday’s 39th Regular Session highlighted the City Council’s continuing commitment to expanding public educational facilities, advancing good governance, and supporting community welfare across Davao City.

Among the important matters deliberated were the enactment of ordinances granting legislative authority to City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte to execute Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education (DepEd) specifically for the acquisition of a new school site for Francisco Bangoy National High School using a Special Education Fund (SEF) subsidy to address critical classroom overcrowding, and the construction of a 3-storey, 9-classroom building at Binowang Elementary School in Barangay Fatima, Paquibato District.

The City Council also discussed the establishment of the City Local Governance Resource Center (CLGRC) inside the City Library and Information Center, in partnership with DILG-DCOO.

Councilor Atty. Rachel P. Zozobrado remains committed to advancing responsive, equitable, and people-centered legislation that protects the welfare of constituents and promotes meaningful public service across Davao City.
