The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Davao Region, under the leadership of Regional Director Sherrila Porza-Sawah, uap, CESE, through the Socio-Economic Development Division headed by Acting Chief Engr. Nur-Ain E. Albani, attended the Davao Muslim Sector Group Round- Table Discussion on the Islamic Finance Ecosystem in the Philippines, held on March 6, 2026, at the Hotel Uno, Davao City.
The discussion kicked off with a warm welcoming address from Kagan Tribe Deputy Mayor Michael A. Mohamad, setting a collaborative tone. This was followed by the keynote speech from Mr. Clint (Bilal) Lloren, Takaful Division Head at Stronghold Takaful. Mr. Lloren highlighted the vital role of Islamic finance in the everyday lives of Muslim Filipinos, explaining how principles like risk-sharing (takaful) and ethical investing can seamlessly blend with modern economic activities while adhering to Islamic teachings.
Participants, including religious leaders, Muslim educators, employees from the Department of Education, Davao City Muslim Affairs Office, and NCMF representatives, showed strong interest in deepening these conversations. They focused on practical ways to educate communities about Shariβah-compliant institutions such as Islamic banks emphasizing their benefits like fairness, transparency, and community upliftment to promote wider adoption.
