In support of Republic Act No. 11898, or the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022, NutriAsia initiated its Bring Your Own Bote (BYOB) program in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region XI. The initiative was held on August 24, 2026, at the DENR XI Regional Office, where key officials led by Regional Executive Director Atty. Ma. Mercedes V. Dumagan, together with DENR personnel, participated in the activity.
During the program, Miralou A. Blanco, Chief of the Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division, discussed the provisions and importance of RA 11898, highlighting the concept of the circular economy and the shared responsibility of producers, consumers, and communities in reducing and properly managing plastic packaging waste.
Meanwhile, Hemogenes Malipayon, Production Manager of NutriAsia, introduced the companyโs Bring Your Own Bote (BYOB) initiative, which promotes the reuse of empty bottles by allowing participants to have them refilled with selected NutriAsia condiments, including soy sauce, vinegar, and oil, at discounted prices.
Following the discussions, DENR personnel and employees voluntarily participated in the BYOB initiative by bringing their empty bottles and availing of the discounted condiment refills. Participation in the activity was entirely voluntary, with the cost of the products shouldered by the participating employees.
The conduct of NutriAsiaโs BYOB initiative demonstrates the value of public-private collaboration in promoting sustainable consumption and advancing the principles of the circular economy. By encouraging voluntary participation and the reuse of packaging, the initiative promotes simple and practical choices that can contribute to waste reduction and environmental protection.
