PUBLIC ADVISORY | PRO 11 Warns Public Against Pyramid Schemes
The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) cautions the public against pyramid schemes that promise quick riches but ultimately lead to financial loss.
KNOW THESE RED FLAGS TO AVOID BEING SCAMMED:
⚠️ "Recruit 3 people and earn ₱50,000" – Pay-for-recruitment is a classic pyramid scheme.
⚠️ No real product or service – Just money moving between people.
⚠️ High entry fee – Mandatory purchase before you can earn.
⚠️ Unrealistic returns – 10%–50% monthly with "zero risk."
⚠️ Vague or secret business model – Hard to explain where money comes from.
KEY DIFFERENCE:
✅ Legitimate business – Income comes from selling real products/services.
❌ Pyramid scheme – Income comes almost entirely from recruiting new members.
PRO 11 urges the public to be cautious and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
