Pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-003, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI provided technical assistance during the Three-Day Basic Training on the Management of the Dead and Missing Persons (MDM) held on August 10–12, 2026, at Eden Resort, Toril, Davao City, hosted by the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓| ORIENTATION AND FORMULATION OF THE REGIONAL INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT (RIDS) PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI successfully conducted the Orientation and Formulation of the Regional Institutional Development Support (RIDS) Program Implementation Plan on August 3, 2026, at the Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The activity gathered DILG Provincial and HUC Focal Persons, City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs), and representatives from the member agencies of the Regional Council for Good Local Governance (RCGLG) XI to strengthen the region's strategic approach in delivering capacity development interventions for local government units (LGUs).

𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐓𝐅 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞

The Provincial Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (PAILTF) convened on August 12, 2026 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Government Center, Mankilam, Tagum City to reinforce inter-agency efforts in protecting Davao del Norte’s forest resources and preventing the movement of illegal forest products within and beyond the province.

A key point of discussion was the protection of the Pantaron Bridge corridor within Davao del Norte’s jurisdiction, emphasizing the need to deny the passage of illegally sourced logs entering the province. Task force members also discussed the strengthening of monitoring and coordination with neighboring provinces, particularly in tracking the movement of suspected illegal forest products from Laak, Davao de Oro and Loreto, Agusan del Sur.

The meeting, led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Ralph P. Dela Cruz, Lt.Col. PA (Ret), featured updates from MENRO New Corella, CENRO Panabo, the 60th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office. Reports indicated a decline in illegal logging incidents and highlighted recent apprehensions, including four Sadam trucks carrying illegal logs in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

During the meeting, DILG Davao del Norte Provincial Director Jonathan J. Leybag, MPA, moved to commend the enforcement team for its accomplishments, and proposed the inclusion of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), Philippine Coast Guard, and Maritime Group as additional members of the task force to further strengthen enforcement operations.

He also encouraged sustained advocacy initiatives such as tree-growing activities and capacity-building on forestry and environmental laws.

The meeting reaffirmed the province’s commitment to stronger collaboration among national government agencies, local government units, and law enforcement partners in safeguarding Davao del Norte’s forests and natural resources.
