NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro – In support of sustaining peace and development in the Municipality of Compostela, the 10th Civil-Military Operations Battalion (10CMOBn), led by Lieutenant Colonel Tony C. Bugawan, together with Ms. Gwen M. Corrites, MLGOO VI and DILG Field Officer of Compostela, formally presented the municipality's Peace-Building and Community Development Initiative to Governor Raul Mabanglo of Davao de Oro on 06 June 2026 at the Provincial Capitol Compound, Barangay Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
The initiative highlights a Whole-of-Government approach that brings together the Local Government Unit, national government agencies, and other stakeholders in addressing labor-related concerns and community issues through responsive governance, social services, and development interventions. The program aims to strengthen community resilience and sustain the insurgency-free status of Davao de Oro by addressing the underlying conditions that may contribute to social unrest and dissatisfaction.
During the presentation, Governor Mabanglo expressed his full support for the initiative and underscored the importance of protecting workers' welfare and addressing legitimate labor concerns through timely government intervention.
The Governor emphasized that when workers are provided with adequate opportunities and fair compensation, they are less susceptible to the influence of groups that seek to exploit economic hardships and grievances. He further stressed that government agencies must remain proactive in responding to the needs of communities to prevent issues from escalating and to ensure that development reaches the grassroots level.
Also present during the meeting was Lieutenant Colonel Mark Serapion L. Lagud Jr., Commanding Officer of the 25th Infantry Battalion, who conveyed his support for the municipality's peace-building and community development efforts.
The Province of Davao de Oro and the Municipality of Compostela remain committed to fostering peaceful, empowered, and progressive communities through collaborative governance, responsive public service, and sustainable development programs. Through strong partnerships among government agencies, local leaders, and stakeholders, efforts continue to promote unity, stability, and inclusive growth for all residents.
