Consul-General of Malaysia Visits the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCII)

On 2 June 2026, the Consul-General of Malaysia in Davao City, Mr Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh, accompanied by Mr Shaiful Naszri Abdul Wahid, Counsellor (Agriculture), paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCII).

The Malaysian delegation was warmly received by DCCII President Dr Mirasol B. Tiu, along with former DCCII President John Carlo B. Tria and Secretary General Mary Antonette D. Doromal. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the upcoming ASEAN Innovation Summit 2026, a regional platform that promotes innovation, strengthens economic cooperation, and enhances ASEAN’s competitiveness in an increasingly digital and connected world.

Discussions focused on the Summit’s goals and its role in building stronger partnerships among ASEAN chambers of commerce, innovation ecosystems, and key stakeholders across the region. The Summit aims to promote innovation-driven growth by encouraging collaboration in emerging technologies, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to inclusive economic progress and stronger regional resilience.

In addition to the discussions on regional innovation and cooperation, the Malaysian delegation shared promotional information on MAHA 2026 (Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show), one of Malaysia’s premier biennial agricultural exhibitions. Scheduled to take place from 28 August to 6 September 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor, the event will be held under the theme “Value Creation for Food Security.” MAHA 2026 will showcase the latest developments in modern agriculture, including smart farming technologies, artificial intelligence applications in agriculture, and innovative agri-tech solutions aimed at enhancing food security and attracting greater youth participation in the agricultural sector.

The meeting ended on a positive and forward-looking note, with both sides expressing their readiness to strengthen cooperation and support the successful organisation and implementation of the Summit. The engagement highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between Malaysia and Davao’s business community in advancing regional goals for innovation, prosperity, and sustainable growth.

Consul-General of Malaysia Visits the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) in Davao City

On 2 June 2026, Consul-General of Malaysia in Davao City, Mr Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh, paid a courtesy visit to Mr Antonio “Tony” Peralta, Chairperson of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) Business Council in Davao City. Consul-General Deddy was accompanied by Mr Shaiful Naszri Abdul Wahid, Counsellor (Agriculture), and Consul Muhammad Ikhwan Ariff Muhammad Yusoff.

The meeting focused on the ECCP Bangsamoro Agro-Enterprise Program (BAEP), an initiative aimed at strengthening and promoting agro-industries across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), particularly in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The BAEP seeks to enhance the development and marketability of local industries in the Bangsamoro region while encouraging greater private sector participation and investment in agro-industrial and agri-fishery enterprises. The programme also supports the promotion and financing of locally produced halal and Islamic products, contributing to sustainable economic growth, employment generation, and improved livelihoods within the region.

During the meeting, Consul-General Deddy also presented Mr Peralta with promotional materials on the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026, which will be held from 28 August to 6 September 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor, Malaysia. For many Malaysians, Nasi Lemak is part of everyday life. The best ones are usually bought early in the morning from roadside stalls, still warm in a banana leaf packet with the smell of coconut rice and sambal escaping the moment it is opened. Simple, familiar, and impossible to replace.

At its core, Nasi Lemak is made with rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan, served with sambal, fried anchovies, peanuts, cucumber, and half a boiled egg. Yet every element matters. The rice is fragrant and comforting, while the sambal gives the dish its character. Some are fiery and sharp, others slightly sweet with a slow heat that lingers. Ask any Malaysian and they will probably tell you where to find their favourite one.

What makes Nasi Lemak special is how naturally it brings people together. Malays, Chinese, Indians, students, office workers, taxi drivers. Everyone eats it.
