The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao Region, through the City Science and Technology Office (CSTO) โ Davao, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Negosyo Center Toril, conducted a Seminar on Halal Awareness and Basic Food Hygiene for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge and awareness of local MSMEs on Halal principles, requirements, and practices, as well as the importance of maintaining proper food hygiene and sanitation in food preparation and processing.
Participants were introduced to fundamental Halal concepts and principles, including the importance of using permissible ingredients, preventing cross-contamination, and observing proper handling and preparation procedures. The seminar also emphasized the role of good food hygiene practices in ensuring food safety, product quality, and consumer confidence.
Through this collaborative initiative, DOST Davao City and DTI Negosyo Center Toril continue to support MSMEs by providing relevant science, technology, and enterprise development interventions that can help them improve their operations, meet market requirements, and become more competitive. The activity forms part of the agenciesโ continuing efforts to promote safe, quality, and market-ready food products while encouraging MSMEs to adopt standards-based practices in their businesses.
