Four nations. One digital direction. One warm Davao welcome.

Last August, Davao Region welcomed delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines for the 1st BIMP-EAGA Digital Cluster Meeting.

Beyond the meetings and discussions, the delegates were amazed and deeply appreciative of the warm hospitality extended by the Department of Information and Communications Technology โ€“ Region XI (DICT-XI). From their arrival to their stay in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, every effort reflected the regionโ€™s genuine warmth, professionalism, and spirit of service.

Their arrival marked the beginning of an important regional gathering aimed at strengthening digital cooperation, innovation, connectivity, and shared opportunities across BIMP-EAGA.

๐ŸŽ“ SPARK Technical Training: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Digital Marketing for MSMEs โ€“ Graduation Day!

Five days of learning, growth, and transformationโ€”and now, 27 individuals are ready to take on the digital world.

From August 24โ€“28, 2026, MSME owners, freelancers, digital marketing specialists, and IT professionals gathered at DTC Davao City to master AI tools, Meta Ads, e-commerce systems, and automated marketing funnels. Today, they graduate as digital championsโ€”equipped, empowered, and ready to make a difference.

August 26โ€“28, 2026 | The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Davao del Norte, in partnership with CPESDO Tagum, successfully conducted the 3-Day Digital Literacy Training: Canva 101 and Cybersecurity Awareness for job seekers and individuals looking to enhance their digital skills at the Digital Transformation Center.

Over the course of three days, participants explored the fundamentals of effective graphic design and maximized Canvaโ€™s creative tools through interactive, hands-on learning sessions. They created social media graphics, presentations, posters, resumes, profile websites, and other digital materials while applying practical design principles and collaboration features.

The training was designed to help participants build practical digital competencies that can support employment, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities in todayโ€™s digital economy. By strengthening their knowledge and confidence in using digital tools, participants are better equipped for an increasingly technology-driven workforce.

The training concluded with a Cybersecurity Awareness session, where participants learned how to recognize common cyber threats, safeguard their personal information, and practice responsible and secure digital citizenship in todayโ€™s online environment.

Through initiatives like this, DICT continues to strengthen digital literacy, empower communities with future-ready skills, and build a safer, smarter, and more digitally empowered Philippines.

In Montevista, Davao de Oro, DICT Davao de Oro, brought the Bayanihan SIM Distribution Program to local schools, providing learners with 25GB monthly data for one year to support research, online learning, and access to educational resources.

On August 25โ€“27, 2026, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conducted the BPCO Onboarding Training for LGU San Isidro, bringing together participants from the Municipal Engineering, Planning, and Treasury Offices, as well as the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Through the training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‚๐ž๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Ž๐œ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ฒ (๐๐๐‚๐Ž) ๐’๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ and its end-to-end processโ€”from application and completeness checking to document verification, technical evaluation, assessment, payment, and ultimately, issuance.

Regional Director Evamay Dela Rosa, together with ARD Aris Austria, Engr. Octavio Guibelondo Jr., and Engr. Exekiel Hugh Bermejo, recently paid courtesy visits to the offices of Hon. Cong. Nelson โ€œJRโ€ Dayanghirang and Hon. Cong. Jose Manuel โ€œJMโ€ Lagdameo in their respective districts.

The courtesy visits centered on discussions about DICT XIโ€™s ongoing and upcoming projects, key programs, and initiatives that aim to expand digital connectivity and improve access to ICT services. The discussions also explored potential areas for collaboration and strengthened partnerships in support of the digital development needs of their respective communities.

These engagements underscore the importance of close coordination between DICT XI and our local leaders in identifying opportunities, addressing community needs, and bringing ICT-enabled programs and services closer to the people.
