The City Government of Davao, through its Constructors Performance Evaluation System (CPES) Implementing Unit, conducted an Actual Evaluation Meeting for the Construction of 2 Units of 1-Storey 2-Classroom Building at Datu Ansayod Elementary School, Sitio Kabalantian, Brgy. Gumitan, Marilog District, implemented by BQPC Corporation.

Located in one of the far-flung barangays of the City, reaching the project site requires approximately three (3) hours of travel by vehicle, followed by a 2.5-kilometer walk taking around one to two hours through steep terrain and across a small river. The challenging access to the site also means that the delivery of construction materials requires considerable effort.

To facilitate the transport of materials across the river, the contractor constructed a makeshift bamboo raft or “gakit”, which has since also been used by teachers, students, and residents in crossing the river. Residents of Sitio Kabalantian likewise extended their assistance by helping carry construction materials along the 2.5-kilometer route leading to the school. This is a simple but meaningful example of bayanihan—the contractor, teachers, students, and residents working together to overcome the logistical challenges of bringing the project to the community.

Despite the difficult terrain and distance, the construction of the additional classrooms continues to bring much-needed educational infrastructure closer to the learners of Datu Ansayod Elementary School.

The City Government of Davao recognizes the cooperation and efforts of everyone involved in the implementation of the project and remains committed to bringing project monitoring and evaluation to infrastructure projects, wherever they may be located in Davao City.

In a bid to ensure a thorough and reliable revised City Land Use Plan (CLUP), the City Government of Davao created and constituted a CLUP technical working group (TWG) and planning core group through Executive Order No. 24, Series of 2026.

The Planning Core Group shall act as the lead committee that will oversee and coordinate all technical and administrative activities for the preparation of the CLUP. It shall also draft and consolidate, and facilitate the preparation of the CLUP to the Local Development Council for endorsement to the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

The group shall be composed of members from the City Administrator's Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Planning and Development Office - Zoning Enforcement Division, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Legal Office, and Business Bureau.

Meanwhile, the CLUP-TWG shall be composed of offices under the Social Sector, Economic Sector, Infrastructure Sector, Environment Sector, Institutional Sector, Forest Sector, Coastal and Marine Resources Sector, Urban Design and Development Sector, Ancestral Domain and Cultural Heritage Sector, Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment - Technical Working Group Sector.

The group must prepare, review, finalize, legitimize, and approve of the CLUP following the principles of participatory decision-making, accountability, and transparency must be done by the CLUP-TWG.

They must also conduct sectoral and intersectoral analysis and validation of reports. They must also conduct surveys, consultations, meetings, and workshops; as well as identify and assess the hazards and other necessary information, and incorporate them into the plan.

The City Planning and Development Office shall serve as the lead office responsible for the completion and legitimization of the CLUP. It shall also serve as the secretariat and provide technical and secretarial services, and be responsible for facilitating the conduct of workshops and activities.
