PAKIG-AMBIT: LAES SHOWCASES INNOVATIONS IN LITERACY, NUMERACY, AND SCHOOL CULTURE

Los Amigos Elementary School, August 26, 2026 — Los Amigos Elementary School welcomed the monitoring team during the Pakig-Ambit activity on August 26, 2026, led by Dr. Lilian Libre, Public Schools District Supervisor of Sta. Ana District, and Ma’am Mary Law Vilbar, Principal-in-Charge of Malabog District.
Dr. Libre was assigned to monitor Curriculum Implementation, while Ma’am Mary Law Vilbar focused on School Governance and Operations. As part of the activity, Dr. Libre and Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon, Principal III of LAES, served as process observers during the teaching demonstration of Ma’am Renna Ragonton, Grade 3 teacher.
Meanwhile, Ma’am Mary Law Vilbar conducted the monitoring of the school’s governance and operations together with Ma’am Rowena Panaligan, Ma’am Grace Caballero, Ma’am Alma Gerolaga, Ma’am Analyn Borres, and Ma’am Marilou Gamale, Administrative Officer of LAES.
During the post-conference, Dr. Libre expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the LAES family for the warm accommodation and hospitality extended to the monitoring team. She emphasized that monitoring is not merely about evaluating teachers’ performance, but also about recognizing good practices, identifying areas for improvement, and providing appropriate technical assistance.
“Observation is not simply about checking teacher performance but recognizing the good practices, areas of improvement, and giving appropriate technical assistance,” Dr. Libre shared.
Ma’am Vilbar also commended the school for its notable best practices, particularly Read to Learn (RTL) for Literacy and Project NUMERO for Numeracy, recognizing these initiatives as valuable efforts in addressing learners’ literacy and numeracy needs.
Both Dr. Libre and Ma’am Vilbar also appreciated the spacious school environment and conducive learning areas that provide learners with a comfortable and welcoming space for learning. They likewise recognized the positive school practices, including the playing of music during vacant time, which contributes to a pleasant school atmosphere, and the active participation of learners in picking up trash, demonstrating responsibility and care for their school environment.
The post-conference was further enriched by an inspirational message from Sir Pelagio A. Wapaño, Jr., who encouraged the teachers and school personnel to continue giving their best in the performance of their duties and in serving the learners. He emphasized the importance of commitment, dedication, and excellence in education.
Sir Wapaño also commended Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon, Principal III, for his excellent leadership, recognizing his efforts in guiding the school toward continuous improvement and fostering a positive and productive school environment.
The recognition given to LAES best practices and leadership highlighted the collective efforts of the teaching and non-teaching personnel in creating a school culture grounded in excellence, collaboration, responsibility, and learner-centered service.
The Pakig-Ambit activity served as a meaningful avenue for professional collaboration, reflection, and learning. It provided the school with an opportunity to showcase its strengths, receive constructive feedback, and identify areas for further improvement while sustaining practices that positively impact learners.
The Los Amigos Elementary School family extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Lilian Libre, Ma’am Mary Law Vilbar, Sir Pelagio A. Wapaño, Jr., and the entire monitoring team for their valuable time, guidance, encouragement, recognition, and technical assistance toward the continuous improvement and excellence of LAES.

Maribelle Lambojo, Gng. Kristine Paulette Rosaroso, at Gng.

LAES introduces PRIME Program, strengthens Learning Continuity in Emergencies

Los Amigos Elementary School (LAES) took a significant step toward strengthening emergency preparedness in education as it introduced the LAES PRIME (Pathways to Resilient Instruction and Meaningful Education) Program during a Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session held on July 8, 2026.

The session was facilitated by Principal III Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon, principal of Los Amigos Elementary School, who guided teachers through the provisions of DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026, or the Guidelines on Learning Continuity in Emergencies.

Tubigon discussed the policy's four Learning Continuity Levels—HAYO, HINAY, HINGA, and HINTO—which outline the appropriate learning arrangements schools should implement depending on the severity of emergency situations.
A highlight of the session was the introduction of the LAES PRIME Program, the school's localized initiative designed to ensure that learning remains resilient, meaningful, and uninterrupted during emergencies and disasters.

Teachers were oriented on the learning resources and interventions for each continuity level. Under HAYO, regular face-to-face instruction continues using available school resources. HINAY implements structured distance learning through textbooks, Learning Activity Sheets (LAS), Self-Learning Modules (SLMs), and the Education in Emergencies (EiE) Kit. HINGA provides learners with reading and numeracy intervention materials while minimizing academic workload, while HINTO temporarily suspends all learning activities until classes officially resume.

The session also emphasized the importance of effectively communicating the four learning continuity levels to learners and parents to ensure a common understanding of the school's emergency learning arrangements.
As part of the school's preparedness efforts, teachers were tasked with developing contextualized Learning Activity Sheets (LAS), intervention materials, and other printed resources that will become part of the school's Education in Emergencies (EiE) Kit.

In his message, Tubigon underscored the importance of preparedness in ensuring that education continues despite unforeseen challenges.
"Emergencies should never stop learning. Through the LAES PRIME Program and our collective commitment, we are preparing our teachers, learners, and parents to respond effectively so that quality education continues regardless of the situation," Tubigon said.

The LAC session concluded with teachers gaining a deeper understanding of DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026 and strengthening their readiness to implement appropriate learning continuity strategies. Through the introduction of the LAES PRIME Program, the school reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient learning community capable of sustaining quality education even in times of crisis.
