Malita, Davao Occidental โAugust 20, 2026 โ Student researchers from state universities and colleges across Davao Region presented policy proposals addressing agricultural, environmental, energy, and fisheries concerns during the Policy Pitching Student Category at the SPAMAST-Malita Lecture Hall. Each presenter was given three minutes to deliver the policy pitch, followed by a two-minute question-and-answer session.

โMaryam A. Salih of Davao del Norte State College opened the competition with her presentation, โSENNA GATE: A Policy Framework for Evidence-Based Advancement of Senna Alata-focTR4 Research in Davao del Norte.โ

โRepresenting Davao del Sur State College, Lovely Charm E. Desucatan presented โSite Suitability Assessment for Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Power Generation System Using Gis-Based Mapping Operations In the Municipality of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. The proposal highlighted solar investment for the community and was aligned with Sustainable Development Goal number 7 (affordable and clean energy) and Sustainable Development goal 13 (climate action.)

Lonzano of UP Mindanao presented โAgent-Based Modeling on the Sustainability of Small-Scale Fisheries in Marine Protected Areas and Non-Marine Protected Areas in Davao Gulf under Philippine Fisheries Policies.โ Which targets SDG 1 (No Poverty) SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water.)

โMeanwhile, Crezzele Joy P. Pablo of KCAST presented โBanana Farmer-Centered Crop Rotation Development Policy for Panama Disease In Davao del Norte,โ focusing on a policy approach centered on the needs of banana farmers.

โAfter all presentations, UP Mindanao, represented by Lonzano, emerged as the champion. Davao del Sur State College placed second, while Davao del Norte State College secured third place.
