Why do documents to be used in the UAE need to be attested? 🇦🇪
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not a member of the Apostille Convention. Because of this, an Apostille alone is generally not enough for Philippine documents to be legally recognized in the UAE. Instead, documents must undergo attestation, which is an additional verification process accepted by the UAE government.
Why is attestation required?
✔️ To confirm that your document is authentic and legally issued in the Philippines.
✔️ To ensure your documents are officially recognized by UAE government agencies, employers, schools, and courts.
✔️ To protect against fraud and the use of falsified documents.
✔️ To comply with UAE legal requirements for foreign-issued documents.
Documents commonly requiring UAE attestation include:
• Birth Certificate
• Marriage Certificate
• Diploma & Transcript of Records
• NBI Clearance
• Special Power of Attorney (SPA)
• Certificates of Employment
• Other personal, educational, and legal documents
Without proper attestation, your documents may not be accepted for:
✅ Employment or work visa applications
✅ Family or residence visa processing
✅ School or university admissions
✅ Business registration and legal transactions
✅ Other official purposes in the UAE
