To ensure the utmost safety of our learners and actively prevent campus violence, DepEd Davao City joined forces with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and the City Government of Davao in a strategic security coordination meeting on Tuesday, August 18.

Schools Division Superintendent Reynante Solitario sat down with DCPO City Director Police Colonel Peter Madria, City Information Officer Harvey Lanticse, and other key safety officials to map out concrete, proactive steps following the recent incident in Zamboanga City.

Aligning with Mayor Sebastian Duterte's directive to prioritize a city-wide culture of security, the collaborative task force is rolling out strict preventive measures. These include heightened, rigorous security checks at all school entry points, intensified anti-threat advocacy campaigns within our school communities, and streamlined emergency response protocols with local agencies.

Working shoulder-to-shoulder with our local government and law enforcement partners, DepEd Davao City remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a secure, protected, and peaceful learning environment for every Davaoeño learner.

Through strategic deployment, proactive threat management, and maximum visibility, security forces maintained complete operational readiness throughout the festivities.

PNP CYBERCOPS STOP UNAUTHORIZED ONLINE DENTAL SERVICE IN ILOILO

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its monitoring of online activities following the arrest of a 22-year-old woman who allegedly offered unauthorized dental services through social media in Iloilo City.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Maymay,” was arrested on August 10, 2026, in Jaro, Iloilo City, during an entrapment operation conducted by the Iloilo City Cyber Response Team (ICCRT). The operation followed the team’s cyber patrolling, which led to the discovery of an online post offering home-service dental braces for ₱3,000.00.

Based on the initial investigation, the suspect allegedly had no formal dental training or professional license and had learned the procedure through online video tutorials. Authorities said the case involves an alleged violation of Section 33 of Republic Act No. 9484, or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007, in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the PNP will continue to keep pace with emerging forms of online offenses, particularly those that may put the public at risk.

“Hindi natin puwedeng hayaan na gamitin ang social media para mag-alok ng serbisyong walang sapat na training o lisensya, lalo na kung kalusugan ng tao ang nakataya. We will continue to monitor these activities and act when there is a clear basis under the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operation reflects the PNP’s commitment to the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen public safety and ensure that law enforcement remains responsive to emerging threats, including those that take place in digital spaces.

It also supports the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through proactive policing and timely action based on validated information.

The PNP reminded the public to exercise caution when availing of services advertised online, especially those involving health and other regulated professions, and to verify the credentials of service providers before engaging their services.

Through sustained cyber patrolling and community awareness, the PNP continues to advance “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” ensuring that public safety remains a priority both in the physical and digital communities.

RESPONSE TO UNATTENDED BAG

Davao City Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit personnel, under the supervision of PLT MARCIAL APLASCA, responded to a reported unattended bag at a convenience store beside Ateneo de Davao University, Roxas Avenue, Davao City.

The said bag was allegedly left unattended by an unidentified person, prompting the Security Officer of Ateneo to request assistance from the Sta. Ana Police Station.

A thorough inspection conducted by the City EOD/K9 Team yielded negative results for the presence of explosives/IED. The bag was subsequently turned over to the personnel of Sta. Ana Police Station for proper disposition.

PNP SHIELDS COMMUNITIES FROM FIREARM RISKS AS 858 GUNS ARE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is strengthening its preventive approach to firearm-related threats as police units in Western Visayas accounted for 858 fi****ms voluntarily surrendered by individuals from May 15 to July 31, 2026.

The fi****ms were turned over through the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) initiative known as Project R.T. T. (Restrict, Track, and Turn-in), which encourages individuals holding undocumented or improperly registered fi****ms to surrender them through lawful and non-coercive means.

Rather than waiting for illegally held fi****ms to surface in criminal investigations, the initiative allows police units to work with communities, local government units, and barangay officials to identify concerns involving unregistered or expired fi****ms and encourage their lawful disposition.

The largest number of surrendered fi****ms came from Iloilo, followed by Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo City, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, and Guimaras.

The accomplishment forms part of the PNP's continuing effort to prevent fi****ms from becoming instruments of violence and crime. It is also consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which promotes proactive, coordinated, and results-oriented policing.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the surrender of fi****ms demonstrates the value of prevention and cooperation between police and the communities they serve.

“Mas mabuti na maagapan kaysa hintayin nating may mangyari bago tayo kumilos. When people choose to turn over fi****ms voluntarily, that is already a step toward keeping families and communities safer. Trabaho ng PNP na makipag-ugnayan, magpaliwanag, at gumawa ng paraan para maiwasan ang problema bago pa ito maging krimen.”

The PNP continues to strengthen preventive policing under the direction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., with emphasis on lawful enforcement, community partnership, and measures that address security concerns before they escalate.

This accomplishment underscores the PNP’s commitment to making firearm regulation part of everyday community safety—advancing the Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
